Getting rid of the 6.8, starting a 6.5 build

Looks like I'm changing platforms. A bit back I bought a complete RRA 6.8 rifle, but can't find ammo. I've been watching and now can find 6.5Grendel local to me in a couple places. So, I'm going to get rid of the 6.8 and jump on the 6.5 bandwagon. Saw 65 Outfitters is having a sale for Labor Day, grabbed a 12" barrel. I'll have to get into my 'stash' of parts and pieces to see what else I'll have to have to build a rifle up. I'm planning to SBR it and I'll make a Form 1 can. This will likely be where I keep my thermal.

Just to make sure, barrel, bolt and magazine are the only 6.5 specific AR parts?

Yes, and muzzle devices, which are usually 5/8x24.

I really enjoy the 12” Grendel the most, and I have everything from 22” down to 10.5”. Still working on the 10.5” waiting for what can I will get for it.

I recommend using the Bootleg Adjustable Gas bolt carrier for suppressed. It allows you to set the choke through the ejection port with a small flat head, no need for special tools, carbon-locked set screws on gas blocks, or all of that mess.

I run mine on fully-choked in conjunction with my TBAC Ultra 5 suppressor, and it runs like a raped ape.

I’m also using an extra power carbine action spring with a standard carbine buffer.
