Gas port size for 16” barrel? Not functioning reliably

Long background story, but I am building another Grendel. The current barrel of choice is a ballistic advantage 16” SPR. The rest of the rifle is PSA, BCG came from AIM surplus. It’s a mid-length gas system. This rifle used to be a 5.56 unit, but I wanted another Grendel to hunt with. I’m just wondering if the gas block isn’t aligned or something? (Apparently BA doesn’t dimple their barrels) I thought I had it lined up, but at the first range session I had several failures to eject completely (stove pipes mostly). Now I’m thinking I need to put the original carbine buffer back in it (has H2 in it now). Idunno, not sure what the problem is. Suggestions on what to check?

For a mid length gas 16” 6.5 Grendel the info I have is .078”. Supposedly this is the size of the port of the Faxon Group Buy Monster barrels. My 16” mid length gas Monster barrel gas seems perfect but I don’t use a suppressor.

There have been numerous threads where Ballistic Advantage barrels have weak extraction. Supposedly BA assumes most users will use a suppressor and use a small gas port. Forum members have drilled out their ports themselves or BA had members return the barrel to enlarge the gas port.
