So just put together my third AR, and the first one in 6.5 Grendel, my previous Grendel was a bolt gun. Went with a BCA side charging upper, and on my first outing, I had issues with failures to extract. For a variety of reasons, I'm not blaming it all on the rifle, there were other factors that contributed. When I got it back home and tore into it, everything SEEMED okay, but I think I'd like to change out the extractor anyway, just in case. So are extractors universal, or do they make Grendel specific ones? And if so, who's does the Horde recommend? Thanks!

Do a search here on Grendel extractors. They have been the topic of discussion a time or two...

Sorry about that daved... There are a boat-load of threads referencing Grendel extractors. I've read through a bunch of them myself.
My spare extractors are from Black Rifle Arms...

Haven't sent it back, Klem, and don't intend to, you must have me mixed up with someone else. Just want to get another extractor to have a spare, and if there's something better, I'd make that my "duty" piece, and keep the original as the backup. I've done a more thorough clean and relube since my range session, it feels a lot smoother cyling it manually, but I haven't been able to get back to the range, and it may be awhile before I do. In the meantime, I'm nibbling around the edges, my one and only range session to date made it clear I needed to throw some parts at it. Already replaced the OEM A2 style grip with a Magpul MIAD, and ordered a Hiperfire 2 stage trigger for it last night. Now in the process of putting together some basic spare parts, among them the extractor. Later.

The "best" Grendel extractor is a JP. The shipped cost is more than most complete bolts, however. If they're in stock.

You're not kidding about the cost! So what makes it the best? Not being argumentative, just curious why so expensive compared to everyone else. Thanks.

Better metallurgy, manufacturing and design. JP is focussed on competition and a broken extractor will definitely ruin a stage and could ruin a match (even if you have a spare extractor or bolt) if a piece of a broken extractor gets stuck in the wrong place. Is it $35-40 of manufacturing better? Who knows, but there is a market for the additional peace of mind.

Best is subjective to budget, usage, and expectations
That being said, Stonehenge has named the best quality extractor in my opinion.
