Trybe BCG and Other Products

Hello All, new to the forum, this is my second post so I apologize if I’ve posted on the wrong section.

I’m in the middle of a my first ground-up build and I’ve decided to have some fun with it and experiment. I am trying to keep my costs reasonable, but avoiding “junk.” I’ve been selective on what I’m spending my money on and did splurge on an AA 20in barrel ????.

My question is regarding BCG, I’ve found a 6.5 BCG by Trybe that fits my current budget, but before pulling the trigger, I want to see if anyone has experience/thoughts on Trybe? There’s just not much info on them on the web. Other than being a milspec carrier, I don’t know a lot.

I should add that I’m building a hunting rig so my ultimate goal is about 1MOA accuracy.

I’d never heard of Trybe Defense and a quick search shows they have an exclusive marketing agreement with Optics Planet. Optics Planet has got a poor reputation for not having products in stock with long delays in shipping. Optics Planet and BoTach seem to be in competition to see who can be the most frustrating for online consumers.

If I were betting Trybe is probably selling rebranded products just like Midway with AR Stoner, in essence another house brand only this time for Optics Planet. Personally I’d be pretty hard up to buy anything from Optics Planet right now. If there are enough positive customer reviews on Trybe you might be a product tester for the rest of us, lol.

I doubt this BCG has anything new or different than any other generic AR-15 BCG with a 6.5 Grendel bolt.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe this is my ignorance, but I’ve felt like a spec BCG is basically a spec BCG regardless of the brand name. Seems like you are saying basically the same thing.

Thanks for sharing your Optics Planet thoughts. I’ve always been attracted to them due to their free shipping and KotaBoy32’s 5% discount. I really struggle with paying shipping in this day and age. I think Amazon has ruined that for everyone!

I’ve ordered a few things from them with this build and I’ll post my experience on timeliness of shipping.

Excellent feedback and you are correct. I ordered the “in stock” Trybe along with a few other items and then two days later received notification that the other items were shipping soon separate from the BCG which would ship in “6-8 months.”

I ordered the AIM today and cancelled the Trybe immediately.

^^^ Classic. I was pulled in by a "stock" item at OP last year. Eventually just bought something else from somewhere else and cancelled my OP order.
