Remembering the fallen and their families on this day, and all of the first responders.
And particularly the bravest of the brave: "Let's Roll."
I was on the edge of DC then, drove around near the Pentagon, saw the smoke; some of my colleagues had bird's eye, line of sight view of the twin towers as they were attacked.
We will never forget.
Never.

I'm making my reservations for Pittsburgh tomorrow. I plan on being in Shanksville next year for the 20th anniversary (can you believe it?!?). I may have the grandkids there but they're a bit young to understand.
The story of Flight 93 is a great American story. Never forget.

Today we remember those who were killed in the name of a dark and twisted ideology.
Many dark and twisted ideologies exist in the world today in the minds and hearts of men and women ideologies that have nothing to do with the vision of our Founding Fathers and with making and keeping America great.
Let us guard our own hearts so that liberty and justice for all reign, and that "do unto others as you would want done unto you" is the guiding principle in our politics and civic relationships.
