I went out last night with HuntTXhogs (Ben) and it was a good thing we finally go together because I would have had a long walk home, otherwise.
We arrived early in separate vehicles (social distancing) and and was able to give him an overview of the property and then we watched the fog move in...what was neat and disconcerting. We spotted a sounded and made our stalk to it, working the wind and getting nearly down wind of the hogs. As we stalked, we got sacked by the fog. We did our shooting and then went to find downed hogs, leaving our rifles where we shot. Then we could not find our rifles because they did not show up on thermal (getting wet and cooling to ambient temp) and the reflector tape on my shooting sticks wasn't reflecting the light from our headlamps because the light could not penetrate the fog. We found the rifles and shooting sticks after a few minutes, but it was really creepy how easily they disappeared in the fog.
Complex shooting situation with a lot of cattle in the field, not herded tightly together (also social distancing?).
The real excitement (for me) came when Ben's hog, already hit multiple times and mortally wounded, circled around right at us on my side...
