Just wondering if a 6x47 would fit in a 223 mag?

Not very well. Unless you are already set up on dies or already have a .223 donor, it would make more sense to rebarrel a Grendel to 6mm. Or, you could wait until Hornady likely announces a factory 6mm Grendel at SHOT this year, called the 6 mm ARC.

The shorter Grendel round would provide more COAL leeway, as well as a little more juice. If going 6x47, you’d probably want to stick with ~85 grain bullets or shorter.

Yea, you're right. I was just looking at the 6mmAR numbers, I bought a 223 mini for a donor and discovered it shoots itty bitty groups right out the box. I was going to do a 6mmTCU. Time to switch gears.

If you mean 6x47 lapua then, no it won't fit.

If you meant 6x45 as in 223/556 necked up too 6mm then yes it would work.

You forgot rule number one- Never shoot the donor!

Hard to unscrew an accurate barrel. I’d get a Grendel or 7.62x39 to rebarrel if you still want something 6mm and aren’t stuck on the 6x47.

Heck, if you wait a year, maybe they’ll become available from the factory if this 6mm ARC makes it to market.
