Lab radar works fine also... not dissing them.
As was said each one has pro's and con's.
Since I've been doing the mgspd for plenty long I don't feel the need to shift to the radar unit, but some may like it, and that's fine.

I didn't have the greatest luck with the taped on straw/ tube method so I just went to a solid mount and a inexpensive red dot. has worked out fine for me, don't have to worry about it moving around. I did use the plastic speed square to help me get it on target, but once there it stays there (so far).
As pointed out, lots of ways to cook that goose, and the factory provided "sighting system" blows green chunks.

For sighting-in the radar I carry a pencil and hold that in the notch pointing the pencil at the target. I don't like how when you press the arm button it tends to push the radar a little bit off alignment each time. The phone app tends to be flakey so I don't use it and set the arm auto-off and the Sleep mode to the maximum times, and carry a generous-capacity rechargeable battery. Once you figure all this out it works fine.
I also marked one of the concrete benches at my range with a felt pen as it's the same bench every time and same target stand when shooting 100yd groups. Bit cheeky I know but it's not graffiti, just a line.
For suppressed subsonic (Blackout) this is where the old, cheap folding Chrony shines and a big reason why I still have it. The Labradar microphone doesn't pick up suppressed and I am uncomfortable using the doppler mode as it is not clear where the bullet enters the emitter beam - to extrapolate the muzzle velocity. I prefer a more precise reading when loading to +/- 30fps.

The recoil triggers trump the microphone. I won't be surprised to see them offering their own at some point.
One trick on the App, if on Android disable "battery optimization" for the LabRadar app. It selectively reduces power consumption, one of the things it can do is put the BlueTooth radio to sleep...

One of the reasons I like the dot, a quick glance and you know if it moved off target and can adjust as necessary.

I use an anti-twist Arca plate. The Labradar doesn't twist at all anymore.
Labradar has a new mobile application coming some time this year.

So the good news is, I decided to go with the Labradar. The bad news is I have zero Cabelas Bucks left.
I am reloading for a couple rifles and pistols and typically have several with me, so pointing the Labradar at a new target when I switch seemed like the easier path. Not having to worry about POI change is also a big plus for me. If I am at a range, I want to collect velocities.
+1 for the "Tuning Labradar" idea

There is a lot of info scattered around the web about tips and tricks for the Labradar. But it would be very helpful to have the information in one place.
User experience, problems, causes and fixes, setup techniques, etc.
