Grendel Complete - Thank you for the help and advice...

Just a quick thanks to those on the site who gave advice and guidance during my build. She is finally complete and we went for a range test yesterday. These targets are from only 50yrds, but it's enough to let me know that if I will do my part, she will do hers....

After getting the scope on the paper it took me a shot to bring it in... but this is my first 5 shot group...

This is my third 5 shot group, I pulled the 5th shot high right...

I learned a lot during this build - my 4th on an AR15 platform... it really is about barrel, glass and trigger and it has me rethinking my bolt action builds. This Grendel has:
> Lilja 1:8 20" fluted barrel with a compensator/flash hider
> Timney Stick Trigger - 3lbs
> NightForce SHV 5-20X56 MOAR (I intend this for long range)

I reload so my break-in rounds are:
> Norma Brass
> Hornady ELD 6.5mm 123gr
> Hodgdon H322 24gr starting
> CCI BR2 Primers

Many things had to go right for the rifle to function as intended... the barrel was a very tight fit into the upper and doing a "hot fit" was a first for me.. not sure the wife's hair dryer will ever be the same.... but it was all good.... and I got a new scope mounting device... new toys are always good...

There are only two items I am dealing with …
1) the E-Lander mags are a bit temperamental…. if it loads the first round it will load the others... if not you are effectively a single shot. Not sure why this happens.
2) the necks of my brass are getting dented like crazy... I suspect if I adjust my gas block down this will be solved.

Other than that it's a joy to shoot and can't wait to take it hunting in the fall.....

You are off to a good start and you have good kit. In for the range report at longer distances.

Ditch the Elanders, and buy up a bunch of ASC magazines.

They really are the best.

I have also had trouble with Elanders, I don't think the curvature is correct for the Grendel round. I have had great luck with C-Products Grendel mags.

I tried C Products Defense, didn't like them either. Their magazines scrape my brass. They don't machine off enough of the top front of the magazine.

Leave your E-Lander mags loaded, they work much better after the mag spring wear in. Also ensure the welds on the front seam of the mag body are flush and aligned. If the E-Lander mag is defective try a different mag, unfortunately lemons slip through with all brands of 6.5 Grendel mags.

About 5 seconds with a dremel and a course stone fix's that problem.

Lmao. If you say so lmao. I personally think 5 seconds to fix a super minor issue is better then buying new mags lmao.

And the problem that you had with the cpd mag the asc mags have it worse. Just ask DNS lmao.
