I have decided that I am going to buy a 6.5 Grendel I do not shoot matches and this rifle will only be used for yotes/bobcats and maybe deer but I have a dedicated deer rifle but will keep my options open. Here is my questions the rifle has to be lightweight somewhere between 6-8lbs is where I 'd like to be as hunting varmints requires lots of walking second I will need to be able to shoot out to 4-450yds not often but you never know when a dog might hang up out there can this be done with an 18" lightweight barrel? I have a RRA .223 can I use this lower if so what needs to be done to it or should I buy a complete 6.5 rifle?..Sorry for all the questions but this is all new to me any info or advice is welcome...Thanks
All the answers to your questions can be answered on this forum. What you're looking for is easily achieved with the Grendel, I'ld recommend an 18" barrel for shooting 4-450yds. If the RRA .223 is a standard AR-15 all you need is a Grendel Upper. I built mine for hunting and it weighs 7-1/2lbs w/scope. Go to the photo section, there're a lot of examples of how some of the guy set-up they're rifles. The big question you need to consider is how much do you want to spend? Do some looking around, complete upper are available and if you want to build, parts and components a can be bought without need of an FFL.

I am not looking for a bench gun but I want it to be as accurate as possible and I can't afford a $1200.00 upper or a $1500.00 rifle..But I could do a 1k build can I get a lightweight complete rifle with a good trigger that will shoot 1" group at a 100yds?

the groups in my signature were with a 18.5" barrel which now belongs to the gentleman above you,that was at 200 with factory a-max ammo on that now im going to have to change my sig lol
