Billet Upper and Lower recomendations

Does anyone have any experience/opinions with Shadow Ops Billet upper/lower receivers?

I use the Seekins SP223 upper and lower on my 6.5 and also a .223 Wylde. Can't say nothing bad at all about Seekins. I just built a 10.5" .223 Wylde using the Mega Arms MKM upper and ambi billet lower. Can't say anything bad about the Mega Arms either. Which one do I like better? I like the looks of the Seekins the best, but the overall finish goes to the Mega Arms. Love their anodizing. The Seekins has more of a flat finish and the Mega Arms is more of a Satiny finish. Also really like the way the hand guard mounts up on the Mega Arms. I went with Noveske NSR hand guards on the Seekins and they were a royal pain in the ass to mount compared to the Mega Arms.

I would go with Mega ambi or PF

After making a profile on here...a long time ago...then life happening, I am finally about to get a 6.5G build underway. Just looking to make the big commitment to a matching upper and lower. Right now Northtech Defense is my top choice. Who else should I consider? Mega? Black Rain Ordinance? San Tan?

What are your thoughts?

I just bought a Vltor MUR with shell deflector only. The fit to my forged lower is as good as any I've seen. Finnish is perfect, dark matte (matches well with the lower,) tight to the lower. The front pin a little snug, rear perfect. No wobble, etc. I'll being buying another. This is with a Spikes stripped lower using their LPK.

I have one of their billet lowers. I bought it from my nephew who purchased it from Shadow Ops within the last month (he bought it then could not do the build because of other priorities). It appears to be a decent lower and fits my RRA upper nice and tight. I was thinking of buying one of their matching billet uppers to build a Grendel. Their web site says they are on backorder though. I saw quite a few Better Business complaints on the net from a few years back when he told me he had ordered it. Looked like they had some problems filling orders then. May just look elsewhere for the upper now after hearing this. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone have opinions/experience with the CMT Tactical UPUR-4 billet upper? How much will I regret NOT having a shell deflector? I don't see the need for the forward assist on the rifle I'm building but I am new at this.

No experience with the CMT upper but I do have a slick side billet upper on my 18 inch Grendel. I like it a lot. The empty cases don't have dented necks and ejection pattern is about 4 o'clock. I have a mid length gas system with a Syrac adjustable gas block.

This sounds like what I am planning on building. I started my own thread to keep this one on track and stop highjacking. I was looking at CMT because it appears to be a decent piece ??? and is not out of stock. : ) Thanks for the info.

Perhaps a minor point, but two of my PF rifles are so tight they do not need, and do not have, the tensioning screw. And an Alexander Arms GSR that I have has slight play in it but according to Bill Alexander, this is not an issue. For me and my use it is not, perhaps for some other it may be. You will get very good and fair support from Mark at PF in my view. Have fun no matter which way you go.

The Army Marksmanship Unit uppers/lowers would be considered Flexi-Flyers compared to some of what we demand. I like my uppers and lowers to match tightly, but having talked to people who shoot with the AMU, it is completely normal for there to be play between the upper/lower.

My all AA GSR has some play, but its a laser. Shooting 107 SMKs, I've shot quite a few sub .3 MOA 5 shot groups. At 1000 yards, I've shot it in decent wind, and done well.
