Dented Brass

I went and fired my new Grendel today and it worked perfectly. The brass on the other hand has this little ding in it. Each was exactly the same. It is Hornady factory amax.

Is this normal, ok, a disaster or something else?

Competely normal. Usually caused by striking the brass deflector as it is ejected. I little piece of the fuzzy side of velcro tape on the brass deflector has been known to correct it.

The other cause can be landing on concrete at the range, but if they all look like that, velcro is your friend!

Check thread below started by Bjorn "dented case on ejection". I had exactly the same issue, and the Velcro helps, but the spring mod really fixed the problem. Velcro still in place, and can be cut for a proper fit to deflector. And as indicated in that thread, a very small reduction in spring length is the ticket. Measure with a good caliper and make minimum cut-you can always go back for a second pass, if necessary.

Trust me...LOL...if you trim the spring start with small reductions!
