Does anyone know the weight of the action and bolt only for the Howa mini action? Im thinking about an Uber light build and would love to get it down around 20ozs.
Thanks,
Mike

Ive thought about building my own, carbon and Kevlar layered and vacuum bagged. That would be fun! Ideally an internal box magazine but Oregon has the hinged bottom metal and box mag, it weighs 3.66 ozs which is more than Id like but... Kinda dreaming and engineering at this point. With some careful planning a sub 5lb is doable.

With the lightweight 20 inch barrel sub 5lbs is doable for sure. I got my 22inch barreled one down to 5.5lbs with an MPI ultralight stock.
Although for the expense you might be better off buying a kimber Montana in a more potent cartridge. Unless you're just doing it for fun - at the end of the day you still only have a howa lol

Yea I thought about going bigger, if I choose to go down that route itll be a 6.5x47 Lapua on a Defiance anTi action and Id talk to Kerry at MG Arms for the build. The Howa would be more for fun and prove that I can do it. And I love efficient cartridges. I have a Rem 260 (not my favorite), Tikka 270 (sweet), a Sako 85 06 (pure love) and access to just about any caliber Id like up to 416 Rigby so its an itch to be scratched rather than a void to fill. And my wife and kids can shoot the Grendel as well. So really its for them. Yea. Thats the ticket...
