Looked like .003-.005 Total Indicator Reading to me, he was going fast and lying about his readings, hoping no one would notice, and I didn't see any "zeroing" of the micrometer adjustment.

I may be old and set in my ways, but I will stick with individual dies of high quality.

Looks like we both saw the same thing. That runout is not acceptable to me.

Here is my take on the Frankford seating die ... first, I have been a reloader since the early 60's. Starting with Hornet and (Super)Bee and thanks to mostly very good industry innovation my efforts have been easier and more reliable. The Frankford seating die is the most reliable, affordable and versatile seating die to date that I use. With lands, datums (bumps) and other cartridge dimentions set the seating for my various calibers is the most precise and the easiest that I've done so ... I do recommend it, and, it replaces six of my other dies.

Actually, he wasn’t “lying” about anything. He clearly said “plus or minus” every time he took a measurement, from “1.5” to just “over 2”, Which would have a total range of 3 to almost 5 thousandths, and is exactly what the gauge showed.

I've been using Vickerman dies for many, many years. This seems like an inexpensive knock-off of the Vickerman ,which is not to say it's bad, just an observation. A micrometer Vickerman for one caliber is $102, with extra sleeve and stems at about $50 each to change calibers. ~Riuma

Well, the most appealing thing with the Franford Arsenal system is you don’t need to use a shell holder extension. So, it’s more compatible with the Co-Ax and it’s universal shell holder. There are work arounds with the Co-Ax and extended shell holders, the Frankford system just makes it easier to switch back and forth.

Well, Forster would be my first pick also, if for nothing else than the finer pitch threading and .025 adjustment per thimble revolution. And to be fair, I wasn’t all that impressed with “.003-.005” total runout either. Having said that, my Forster dies weren’t all that great in my Lyman All American 8! Turns out the press was the problem. Most of the stations were out of alignment. The problem with the video is, we don’t know if it was the die, the press, brass prep or any combination of all three etc.........It may be the press is causing the issue, we don’t know. There’s just not enough information to make an informed decision. At least for me, other “experts” opinions may very!

Having said all that, to summarize what’s going on here. We’ve got people who have zero first hand experience with the Frankford system, have not loaded 1 bullet with it, passing judgment on it and offering their “expert” opinion on whether it works or not, from watching a short YouTube video. And then misrepresenting what was said and shown in the video. You can’t make it up!

When Hornady made their run out gauge a few years back I bought one. In the instructions it said that .003" run out didn't need to be corrected. FWIW.

I don't measure run out anymore though I have built a V-Block assembly to do so. I have seen too many rounds that have noticeable wobbles when rolled across a flat surface yet shot well. At Grendel ranges it might not be worth fussing over.~Riuma
