Fun A2 stock trivia fact!

Was pondering what to do with the spare complete DPMS A2 lower I had hanging around trying to decide between another grendel build or something in 556/223.
I currently have two 18" grendels, first a PSA and the seccond is an Odin works. Happy with both except for the balance. Both seem weight forward with my stance/grip. I really like the balance of my 18" faxon gunner on a carbine stock and in attempt to replicate that I started stuffing Hornady steel case 55.gr rounds into the A2 buttstock just to add some weight It held 25 rounds without trying too hard. Threw some paper on top to keep it from rattling and kinda of liking it!
Next up grendel rounds and an upper to see if it help balance it or just turns it into a pig.

Turns out that twenty rounds of the ppu 110gr fit just fine and do help when swinging it around the living room.lol Looking foeward the weather and everything breaking to try it at the range.

You can buy a lead weight made to fit inside a a2 stock. Can cut it down to get just the right weight to balance your rifle to your needs.

Just make sure no bullet tips are seated up against the primers of other cartridges.

You could invent a new use for the A2 cleaning kit compartment that way, similar to how tube magazine-fed rifles shouldn't use pointed meplat projectiles (with the exception of the Hornady Flex Tips).

Go with the lead weight if you want a counter-balance on a portly front end.
