Small Buck Down. Went back to my honey hole (see hog and coyote threads). I knew he wasn?t a monster but definitely experienced ground shrinkage. Perfect eater though! Anyway I was itching to shoot a deer with the Howa and see how the Hornady Black performed on deer. Shot was 80 yards, broadside. Aimed high shoulder and he dropped like a sack. Wind was howling but figured at that close range wouldn?t effect much and bullet stayed true to aim. No exit whatsoever which I would prefer but can?t argue with the results. Did a quick gutless breakdown and found scapula broken. Spine appeared intact but could tell there was massive internal damage to heart lung area without doing a complete breakdown of him. Got some does to thin and 2 more buck tags thanks to crazy SC deer regs so hope to stretch it out a bit next time.
