I started this build over a year ago with a Faxon group buy 12.7" barrel.
I managed to snag one of the Maxim braces that LRRPF52 picked up at SHOT.
Anderson lower receiver and BCM blem upper. I put on a Troy handguard from another build that covered the barrel pretty well.
Bootleg adjustable gas bolt carrier (another PF52 recommendation)
I think I put a Larue trigger in this one. If not, it's one of the Geissele two stage models. I don't keep good notes and memory sucks.
Atibal XP8 (1-8x) scope and Atibal QD mount. This is a fairly new company and this model competes with the Vortex Strike Eagle and Primary Arms offerings. It's by no means a Trijicon, but I've found it completely acceptable. Love the 8x max. Do some research before you buy on my recommendation, I'm not an expert.
And finally, a TBAC Ultra 5 in .30 cal (PF52 once again). This was ordered last October, but backordered. The application was submitted mid-December and the tax stamp showed up on September 30.
Thoughts:
I'm pretty happy with the barrels we got from Faxon. I also had one of the original 16" group buy barrels and they both shot fine. Sold the 16" because I already had an AA 16" barrel. I pretty much bought that one to help the group buy move along. BCM is still my first choice for upper receivers. Snug barrel fit with little lapping needed. I haven't shot the gun enough to really evaluate the Atibal scope, but I don't have any complaints with it so far. I'm impressed with the Bootleg carrier. The gun ran fine unsuppressed with the carrier dialed to unsuppressed. Added the suppressor, dialed to suppressed and it still ran fine. When I took the suppressor off and fired it with setting still on suppressed, empties did not eject and had to be mortared out, which is probably to be expected with the reduced gas flow. The TBAC Ultra 5 can only be described as tiny but effective. It weighs 7.6 ounces and takes away all of the boom, leaving only the supersonic crack.
Now I just hope the picture I attached is oriented correctly.
