Anyone have any real velocity numbers on really short grendel barrels, like 7.5, 8 or 9 inches? Are there any factory offerings by anyone in this size, or am I going to have get one specially made?
I'm looking at building an PDW-style AR15 pistol, and I would like to use the 6.5, if its feasible, over the .300 blk or .223 rem. I know it might be challenge to get on running well versus a .300 blk, but it would be nice not to have to branch into a new caliber if I can avoid it.

Anyone got any leads on real short barrels for sale? I'd like to keep it in the <$200 range.

Group buy, faxon, and psa have 12" and all around $200.
Last year odin had their 12" on black Friday sale for 200.

Oh I already have a 12", I'm looking for something less than 10".

Only thing ive seen less then 10" is custom order from precision firearms.

Shorter then the 11 inch AA barrel your going to have to go custom.
So if you go that route just soon phoney up even more cash and get it cut on a bartlien or Krieger barrel and have the best ever super short grendel barrel.
Or buy a dirt cheap barrel and send it off to be cut down to your spec length threaded to your specs and have them cut the gas port. Probably save 20 bucks over the top shelf custom barrel going this way.

That's what I was afraid of... but it may not be too bad. X-Calibers page adds up to $295 for an 8 inch, one from Mcgowen adds up to $260... no idea if they will actually do one that short but the options are there. More than I would like to pay but its plenty doable. I'm gonna keep looking see what I can get for the best price.
I think I'm gonna settle on the 8 inch. Has anyone does a 6.5 Grendel build with a pistol length gas system?

A cursory search has popped up a few makers that can do it for between $260 and $300, gonna keep shopping around but that's not too bad.
Has anyone done a grendel build with a pistol length gas system? What has port size should I be getting?

I dont have a lathe, no way I could get a concentric crown myself with basic hand tools. Besides I would also need to cut a new gas port and wouldn't have a gas block journal and not muzzle threads. I've shortened shotguns before, but I know better than to do a rifle myself and expect good accuracy when I'm said and done.

What kinda accuracy are you looking for? Only basic hand tools, time and care used on the above.
