I have looked into this a little, check out AA and they only have 11 inch uppers and will not do a 12.5, so who do I go to. I want the same level as AA , I am looking for SHTF and hunting. I of course want number one, reliability and then lightweight, I see no reason to go shorter and not have lighter weight. I also could build but I do not trust myself, what would the members here recommend? I could just get the parts have my smith put together, but is I could get one already done that is a good level and good rep I would go that direction

I also saw a company called SULZER, I think that is the name can anyone here tellif they are good or not, they have a 12.5 upper looks good , price is good ?

The only source I can think of for an off the Shelf 12.5” 6.5 Grendel upper is DS Arms who uses a Ballistic Advantage barrel. Ballistic Advantage sells a 12.5” 6.5 Grendel barrel and Aero Precision sell complete uppers but don’t list a 12.5 “ 6.5 Grendel barreled upper. Odin works sells a 12” or 12.5” 6.5 Grendel but don’t offer a 12.5” upper on their web site.
From my reading BA and Odin use conventional Enfield rifling with 416R stainless steel barrels. Basically the same as AA but different manufaturer. If your going shoot a lot of Wolf steel cased Bimetal 6.5 Grendel ammo I would not recommend a 5R or polyogonal rifled barrel.
If your not concerned about shooting Wolf steel cased ammo the Faxon 12.7” group buy or a Faxon upper would be of interest to me. For full disclosure I have a 16” and 18” Faxon group buy barrels and I really like them. My latest build with the 18” Faxon group barrel and bolt and my previous 16” Faxon and Precision Firearms BCG have run 100% and accurate.
Precision Firearms could build an upper to your specifications but you’ll have to wait as PF usually take a few months to deliver.
You might be able to contact Odin or BA and see if they’ll make you a 12.5” upper.

I picked up a 12 inch upper from sulzar. Had to send it back due to poor grouping with both commercial and hand loaded ammo. Have read faxon had a bad batch of barrels that was sold. Only had it 2 weeks to test out before my back surgery so not allot of time to try other ammo. Sulzar offered to ship it back on their dime to check it out while I recover from surgery. Good price on the upper too.

Faxon's issue is/was the barrel extension. I quit tracking the threads on it, so I don't know if they have addressed it or not.
Might be better off just building one. Not that hard, minimal amount of tools needed, and hours of tutorial videos on the web on how to do it.

Mine is on way back. Sulzar tore it apart, then shot it after. Showed me the groupings which were sweet. Nothing wrong. He shot 123 a-max. Going to order some commercial ammo to try it again after I recover. Maybe some lighter grain also.

Thanks Guys for the recommendations! We have some 12.5 inch barrels in stock. Could be made into a Upper quite quickly.
