We have an incredible man in the oval office who is doing his very best to restore power to the people. I get discouraged every morning when I read the news and see the roadblocks, but get reinvigorated when I realize that a man that has everything anyone could ever dream of continues to lead the fight.
I meant it the way you mean it. They have taken power from the people that they are not given by the constitution.
I agree with you 99.9% on all these issues. Even the ones not 2A related.

It's called Executive Order.........just say it, write it and sign it.
Worry if its legal or constitutional or if someone wants to fight it after the fact.
It takes years to get to the supreme court and by then-?????????????????????
It worked for BO. Even after he said he couldn't do it because it wasn't legal, he ended up doing it anyway!

The most serious long term threat to the 2A is the demonization of firearms in schools.
When a kid is exoelled for bronging a picture of a firearm to school harassed for being at a range with family and posting a picture of the event, and so on, the clear outcome is that all too many will come to believe that firarms are have evil minds and self determination.
Combine that with continued loss of places to shoot in suburban areas and effectively none in densely populated areas, there are vanishingly small chances for people to come to understand that firearms are tools and do not have monds of their own.
Bottom line, we have to do a lot more than vote. We have to find and execute ways to get more people shooting!

Other than that absurdity, you raise some good points. Do you have any suggestions for:
1. countering the anti-gun attitude shown by school personnel in the above examples?
2. getting more people into shooting when places to shoot are becoming less available?

Ha! We didn't mind shooting M-80 or M-193 at 200. In fact, some lots of that stuff were very good for 200. Would hold a loose X ring on a 200 yard bullseye.
I have lived in Vermont, Mass, and Western Washington among other states and places. I know exactly how the leftists view gun owners and conservatives.
Afraid it does come down to having a candidate who supports the 2A and also wins. You can convince anyone you want about the virtues of the Constitution but if they continue to vote for leftists, it doesn't matter.
You need to put Stan on an ignore list in order to keep yourself from reading his posts? So far with the 2A stuff, Stan has not done anything more than try to show reality. Reality is this. If the country continues to elect leftist gun haters into office, they will produce laws that will ban all firearms. And to make sure their laws are 'legitimate', they will put other leftist gun haters into the judiciary system so any appeal to their laws will be guaranteed to lose. It is a war. If our side wants to win, our side needs to put pro 2A politicians into office and fill the judiciary with the same.
As for PeterD's postings. This one has not stayed on track. Why? Because if it is true -- and I have serious doubts -- it is well within the rights of Dicks to hire lobbyists to push anti gun legislation.

For plinking, the only thing I really mind about M80 and M193 is that it's loaded hot. I understand why it's loaded hot, but the government isn't replacing my barrels for me!
I know what Stan is doing and why he does it and that's fine. But the persona that he takes on is that of someone who is beyond being capable of having his mind changed and that is someone i find not worth my time to discuss the issue with. The comments such as "I don't see how that's relevant" aren't worth my time and bandwidth for a response. The real battle lies with discussing and using the arguments we use not with Stan's persona, but with the people in the middle ground. The people who don't often pay attention and swing to and fro every four years where every election is won and lost. Besides, even an alt-rightie such as myself is entitled to a safe space every now and then. And if Room 2A was really a room populated by those of us here, the schtick wouldn't hold up for long. So I use the ignore function.
It is indeed well within the rights of Dicks to hire anti gun lobbyists. It is well well within their rights to stop selling guns. They can make any political statement they want. But us 2A supporters should all know and hopefully speak with our wallets. As law abiding patriots, our enemy as it relates to 2A is the same enemy who is also after our freedom of speech, our privacy, etc. It's a!l related. If government entities in California can pass laws barring municipalities from doing business with a company because they are a contractor on a Mexican border wall, or if radio stations can stop playing Kayne West music because he's an outspoken Trump supporter who wont back down, we need to fight the same economic war. I personally won't do business with Amazon because I will not support the owner of the Washington Post (nor have I set foot in Whole Foods since Bezos bought it). I'll never buy a Starbucks product again after Schultz pledged to hire 10,000 Muslim immigrants (instead of those who might be most qualified for the job, including Americans (where was the 9th circuit on that one!)). So we should buy are sporting goods from someone other than Dick's and give our business to a company that does support the 2A.
JA, I think the one thing we have going for us with with the indoctrination going on is Schools is, as Paul Joseph Watson puts it, Conservatism is the New Counterculture. The irony is that those who led the cultural revolution in the 60s have turned 180 degrees and modern liberalism has become the very thing that they rebelled against. Rebellion lives in the spirit of youth, so here's to hope!

1. Yes, confront anti gun teachers like I did all through my kids school years and invite them to go shooting or watch a Practical shooting match. We have many former anti's who now compete in Practical shooting. I have done this numerous times with strong converts to the pro gun side.
2. Help pass shooting range protection laws like we did in Montana. This is a many front war and by supporting hunting conservation, small bore shooting, Practical shooting, three gun, multi gun, apple seed, trap and skeet, concealed carry, etc is the best way to preserve our gun rights. Besides, practical shooting and multi-gun is a hell of a lot more fun than golf If the demand for shooting grows, so will the places to shoot. Supply and demand! The most dangerous thing to our gun rights are the apathetic to gun control, indifferent and defeatist gun owners. They help no one.

I wonder if it might also be a good idea to start a new thread dedicated solely to suggestions for ways to protect/advance the RKBA, wherein ideas like those above can be consolidated?

Yes we can vote and yes our rights can be modified, but only by the repeal or amendment process, not by the opinion of the day movement. Because it is done that way does not justify or legitimize it. Everyone votes and supports their candidate but disregarding the original intent of our Constitutional process is to disregard the Constitution in of itself. An elected official who decides to make a play on a meaning, or stack a court to subvert a law for convenience or gain is criminal and should be exposed and held accountable. We as gun owners need to expose these illegal, criminal, UN-Constitutional laws while supporting the candidates who support our legal rights. Playing the anti's game of up is down and night is day is a fools play. If you think there is no crony capitalism in government, I would love to sit down with you someday and tell you about a few I have personally experienced. Lobbyist lobbying Congress is nice euphemism for bribery.

You are technically correct but pragmatically wrong. The reason the left has been slowly eroding our gun rights is because they get anti gun politicians elected. Who then select anti gun judges. So they legislate things we think are unconstitutional but the leftist judges rule in favor of these laws and we continue to lose. Seems like the left has a strategy that works. Goes back to my statement that we are at war and we can win it if we use a strategy that has proven to succeed.

Maybe, but that is not for me to decide here.
I think people in the gun community need to change their own prejudices and negative thinking before they try to change others. The 2nd Amendment is still considered valuable by the majority if opinion polls are to be believed. They always drop after a major shooting but they seem to spring back after the hard core left tries to reach too far. It may sound a little silly at first but StoneHendge was correct when he stated:

I think there is a little rebel in all of us, especially the youth. Every person wants to empower themselves in someway and the shooting sports is a lot more attractive in my way of thinking than the negative, never ending victims club of the anti's.
I have gone to other club matches and the Alpha male syndrome was epidemic. I watched many new comers being run off in disgust by these yahoos when they were treated like preschoolers. I have listened to trap and skeet shooters berating multi gunners who shoot AR-15 type rifles, multi gunners belittling cowboy action shooters with their Halloween outfits and so on. We in the gun community need to police our selves better. Bad attitudes leave bad memories which leads to fewer shooters. When confronting anti gunners, try to be a friend when debating with them. No one will listen to an enemy. As Ben Franklin stated: We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.

LR55 Yes, you are correct, but the truth is on our side. Critical thinking is not a strong personality trait of the hard core leftist, so debating them is pointless. I said exactly the same thing to a friend three or four decades ago.

Concur, but it'd be a challenge. Not only does the left have an overwhelming headstart, most shooters would rather spend their free time at the range than campaigning for political office.

I think I stepped foot into a Sports Authority sometime back in 2002, oh right, that wasn't a DICKs, same difference, will never give them my custom, ever...
58 and totally agree with Stanc, the socio-fascists played the long game and have been filling our young skulls full of mush with their propaganda for the last 50 years... I do believe this country has crossed the Rubicon and the sane segment of our society is aging out... started with Johnny gets a participation medal. Effing non-binary snowflakes, WtF does that even mean?
