Not sure if mine was legit. It was bought at a show with no markings besides some XX's scribed in it to signify it was factory reject. So now that disclaimer is out of the way. It was decent for the $100 or so i paid. Kinda crude and clunky certainly not refined. But solid and HEAVY. I really like the quick detach post and the way you squeeze the legs to deploy them. AND the way you can fold them forward or backward. But that same mechanism makes them rattle. sadly never got to use it much i had to sell it for cash.

I think i prefer harris as well its the best compromise all in all. Bi pods are one of those things I've never really truly been happy with. They are either to heavy, flimsy, to expensive etc. Idk i guess I'm just to picky or need to put up and shut up.
Never tried the nicer GG&G's or others. Many around here prefer tripods depending on what your doing.

Little experience with others, but I like my Versa-Pod for target shooting. I would agree with Joseph's 'solid' and 'clunky' comments, especially the standard QD adapter. QD allows easy change between rifles. I made a custom adapter for my Grendel that streamlines things quite a bit, and they have some new adapters that look good to me.

I'll add if youre leaning towards the versa over the harris id say go for it. Neither is a bad choice.

I had both lengths they made several years ago and they worked ok. I liked some of the same things mentioned above. Really nice to carry the rifle slung without the bipod then attach it quickly. But the legs weren't long enough unless you are on flat ground. And the short one was too tall for bench work iirc. I figured out a way to extend them but quit using them maybe 5 years ago. Now I use sticks while hunting and will use a short Harris for pdogs from a bench.

Take a look at the offerings by Spartan Precision javelinbipod.com they make an excellent setup that is very robust and very LW. Compared the the ersa pod it is light years ahead of it but the cost is more too. Buy once....cry a little when you have to open the can of beanie weenies.. seriously no too bad for the materials and type of product that you do get.


This would be the route I may go in the future. For now I picked up an actual tripod from Hog Saddle. The PIG0311 and will be putting their ballhead and the Hog Saddle on it in March. It was a great setup for more than just hunting, especially since I have many issues with getting in and out of prone anymore. I can use for all sorts of hunting and long range precision as well as just shooting. This comes at a little bit more weight and cost but the stability is unrivaled. I got this over the Atlas Bipod or the Javelin Which is even more geared to afield than just really a Precision bipod used afield. I think my total cost in the Bipod setup in the end will be

Hog Saddle $300 (one could go with the pig Saddle to save money if not using for precision bolt guns, $135 )
PIG 0311 Tripod $138
PRST H1 Ball Head $99

Hard to beat a setup like that with adjustability, stability, in a very c9mpact platform with really minimal weight for what it is for under $400 for the pig and $500 for the big Saddle. Really competitive with other Bipod and especially tripods as the carbine at easily $700-to well over $1k.
