Instead of using a cantilevered one-piece mount for my scope, I am going with a riser and rings setup. Can any one recommend a quality riser manufacturer without breaking the bank? I know there are some affordable ones out there, but Larue, Bobro, etc.... are too proud of their products.
The riser and ring combo sucks, guess how I know?
Burris Signature series rings. They have eccentrics available in 0,5,10,20 MOA. You can dial up to 40MOA just in the rings and correct for slight misalignments in the barrel/receiver connection. The eccentrics are plastic as well and protect the scope finish from getting marred by the rings.
Try to not use a riser mount if you can get away with it and shoot comfortably that way. Otherwise, I use a 30MOA 3/4" riser on one of my AR's and dial 10 minutes out of that with the burris rings. Brownells carries the 30MOA riser. Everyone sells the Burris rings. You'll want the Zee ring from them for picatinny mount.
All my ARs wear YHM risers and Burris Signature Zee rings. They may not make you look paramilitary, but they work well for me. I like a good cheek weld on an A2 stock and if the scope does not line up vertically with my eye, I can switch to a different height ring. I don't hunch up on the gun, so I've never needed a forward rake from the rings since I use a recoil pad due to heavy calibers.

I guess I should have stated cheap risers suck, they often cause a scope to rotate out of plumb.
I have an AA scout rail which is good. I used Warne Maxima steel rings on it.
If you have not tried Warne Maxima rings, you should they are an excellent ring and really cost effective.
If I needed a better ring I would jump all the way up to Badger rings.

Rock River Arms has a quality riser than won't break the bank.

Whelenon, not sure if I understand your riser/ring setup. Why the shorter ring and stepped up riser on the front?
only use a riser if you need one. If you do, stick with a 1 piece. For most AR uses getting 20MOA or 30MOA built into the riser is enough to get you down at the bottom of your scope's adjustment range. Adding the Burris Zee rings lets you dial that up/down as needed. I'm skeptical as hell about any riser causing scope rotation. Calling BS on that.

Ok, I guess I've never fully understood "MOA" connotations and all that. I think I understand MOA as it relates to point of impact on the target, but maybe I'm missunderstanding that as well. What is "20MOA" and "30MOA" and how does it relate to mounting my scope on my grendel? I'm running out of time b/c I need this completed to hunt rifle season in MI.
I used the YHM Risers on my Grendel and have no problems shooting out to 300yds. Did not run out of scope adjustment. If I was looking to shoot at longer distances or money was no object then I'ld buy the Larue one piece mt/rings combo. But for mid-range hunting the low cost risers works for me.

This link is for the Warne 30mm rings "MEDIUM HEIGHT". How do I determine if I need low, medium, or high rings?

My Warne rings are high, I think the medium rings would've worked with the 1/2" riser but that's what fits me. Your looking to get about 1.5" in height(center of scope) off the top of your reciever.
