Some Grendel Builds and Shout Outs

Here's a couple of Grendel builds I put together and some shout outs on some of the parts.

The first one is a 20" SS HBAR, 1:8 twist with SS comp. The upper came from AR15Part.com and I'm amazed by it. Got 0.45" group at 100 yards with 123 gr Hornady A-Max factory. The scope has changed to a Vortex Crossfire II, 6-18x44 riflescope. The lower is a RRA receiver with a Timney 3 lb trigger, Magpul ACS-L stock, and Hogue Overmolded grip.

The second one is a 16" SS HBAR with flame fluting and a YHM flash hider. The barrel came from Deadshotbarrels.com, made custom. So far, it's been pretty impressive, but I haven't had a chance to put it through its paces yet. It's also built on a RRA lower with a Hogue grip, RRA two stage competition trigger, RRA Operator CAR stock, and YHM diamond free float handguard.

So far, I couldn't be more impressed with these weapons. I'm getting started reloading some Sierra MK and Hornady A-Max to see what I can dial these two into. I'm looking to get 1000 yard performance out of the 20" barrel, which should be achievable even with the Hornady factory loads.

Here's a picture of that group from the 20". The group by the quarter is actually 4 shots. The other two were me adjusting the scope for windage (horribly, but oh well).

I think that's well within the kill zone of most critter's, unless your hunting those pesky little jump'in field mice at long range. If all my groups were that size I'd be a happy camper.

I've got a YHM Phantom Flash Hider on my 16" J&T 6.5 Grendel and a Friend liked it so well he put a Phantom on his 18" Brownell's 6.5 Grendel barrel. I'm also running a RRA NM trigger in my 16" 6.5 Grendel. With factory A-Max I run out of elevation at 800 yards with my 16" 6.5 Grendel. I put a 20 MOA mount on my 20" 6.5 Grendel and it has enough elevation in my Viper scope to go well past 1000 yards.

Nice looking rifles, thanks for posting, looks like their going to be good shooters.

I love target shooting at long range. I've not done any varmint hunting yet, only deer with a 12 GA. Honestly, that's my best group out of any gun yet!

The 20" is the first time I did not use a yhm flash hider. Absolutely love them especially for the price.
