T/C Encore barrel question

Who makes the most accurate 6.5 Grendel barrel for an Encore? What barrel length would be best?

They built my 18" Encore Grendel. They offer a 1 moa or better accuracy guarantee with factory ammunition. I have gotten a few 5-shot groups that were tighter that 0.5 moa and a a few that pressed 1.5 moa with no load development for accuracy. I am guessing one could routinely turn some very nice groups with the right sights and with just a minimal accuracy load development routine.

Regarding barrel length, a lot depends on how you plan to use the rifle. An Encore with a 16" barrel is very short indeed. If you cast about some of the threads here you will find folks who have excellent long range hunting success with that barrel length. Accuracy is excellent with the short barrels too when using telescopic sights.

Going longer works too. The final choice will be a result of how handy and light you want the rifle to be versus how much extra weight and length you are willing take in order to get more velocity.

I was leaning toward Bullberry any way. I was also thinking about 24" barrel in the T/C heavy barrel contour. I haven't dealt with an Encore for years so I was checking with you guys.

Is a 1-8" twist too fast? I was planning on shooting Bergers and Hornadys up to 130gr.

1-8 twist is pretty ideal. A 24" Encore won't be that long because there is no real length to the action, like on a turn bolt, so you get about 6-8" of extra barrel length in the same length as a bolt gun. Stay 1-8 or tighter if you go 18" or less. 1-9 is fine for 20-24".

I have a Match Grade Machine 24 inch Encore Grendel barrel. About .6 inch groups with Hornady factory ammo .MGM usually has a few in stock. If I were to custom order one, I would go with a 18-20" heavy barrel. Maybe...Depends what you want to do with it.

I had no idea you could get a 6.5 grendel barrel for the T/C Encore. That might be the cheapest route for me to go at this point, while I contemplate the Weatherby overhaul.

SDK Industries make them to, I know he's saami since he was one of the first to offer barrels.

Bullberry also sells chamber gages. They kight be able to cut one for you at the same time they cut the chamber for your rifle.

The gage has a cutaway section that lets you visually confirm that the shoulder is in contact before the bullet touches the rifling.
