muzzle brake size?

Ive been using a 6.8 brake on my other Grendel....would I loose a lot of the benefits if I went with a .308 brake instead?

I believe a 6.5, 6.8 & 30cal brakes are all 30cal holes?

I have said this before. I had a guy a gunsmith tell me that that would be like throwing a hotdog down a hallway. It is best to use the caliber you are shooting. That way there would be less room for any error. I am sure there are different opinions on the matter but when you are talking the speeds and pressures out of a firearm it is best not to have anything bad happen. I had have them custom made for 100 dollars and fixin to have another one made for the daughters rifle. Now adays there are a few places that make brakes for specific calibers. BANG BANG!!

I use a Miculek .308 brake on mine to good effect. (5/8 thread). Accuracy is excellent (read: not impaired), and recoil is way down - about the same as my 5.56 target crowned AR, +/- a toasted bun.

The point here, cst, is that you already know the selection is wide open for .30 diameter brakes. They may not offer quite as much recoil reduction, but I would defy the average person to tell the difference in recoil, even side by side.

I'd say go for it. Later, if you change your mind, you can get the Hot Dog sized brake to replace your Bratwurst sized one, but you should be GTG until that time. FWIW, the Miculek was less than $50 on MidwayUSA.

At the most you are talking about 1.5 to 2 millimeters over the size of your projectile. A 7.62 brake will work just fine.

To answer your question bluntly and not beat around the bush.... no..... it would work fine. You probably wouldnt notice a difference at all.
