I have a friend that's thinking about getting the Ruger AR 556, dies anyone have opinions on it? I really dint know much about it, it will be his first AR.

They took a medium sized auto engine block, and mounted it to the barrel for the gas block. Major fail. Also, op-rod guns don't run so well on the AR15 unless you really know what you're doing.
If someone is getting their first AR15, I would actually recommend a Colt 6920, or even an old SP-1. Learn what a reliable gun feels like, then move on from there.
