Precision Firearms Arion Type I

Brand new to the site, so bear with me

I've been researching a build based off of the suggestions by members here, and also looking at fully built 6.5's. I'm looking for a longer 400-800 rifle that I can hunt with and practice at longer ranges. I basically have no experience beyond 200yds, and am still learning as much as I can about scopes, techniques, and the nomenclature.

One that caught my eye was the Arion Type I from Precision Firearms. Here

This is a $2200 18" with some bells and whistles. From what I gathered, a nice build could cost up to this amount and much more.

Does anyone have experience with PF and their quality vs value? Would is be prudent to just purchase a fully built 6.5 at this price point? Or would you prefer to piece it together.

I'm sure many have posted similar questions, but hoping not to bother, but to learn as much as possible before I move on a new rifle. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Precision Firearms makes quality firearms and uppers. Mark provides superb Customer service. You can't go wrong with them and by doing this one can avoid a lot of the pitfalls experienced during builds, especially from a novice builder like myself. I just bought a Neptune V upper and it is fabulous! Try a solid product and then venture to into customizing/experiencing a ground up build. Just my 2 cents.

Its probably not too bad a price, and the quality will definitely be there.
I'm a little under that right now (rough est) but will probably be inching closer to the $2k mark by the time its all said and done.

There is something particular about these that sets them apart from a lot of other guns, namely the Intermediate Length Gas System, which is somewhere between MLGS and RLGS.

You also get PF's billet receiver set, a square face, top-end bolt carrier group, superb fit and finish, Cerakote, Geissele...I handled them at SHOT, and they are very light, well-balanced, and just a nice solid top-end AR15 all around:

Not bad at all. I'm going to be at $2.2k on one of my Lilja builds, minus accessories and iron sights. The other one will probably be over that, by a little. It adds up fast, but it's just nice building your own AR to your specs.

I'm right about that price point on my Lilja build using similar components, so it doesn't look like a bad deal at all.

Not to mention you've got a shop that has mastered the AR platform building it for you and guaranteeing it to work. If you don't just really want to build your own, it's the way to go!

Wow, thanks guys. Mark emailed me after I inquired about lead times. Seems like a really nice guy who knows his stuff.

Appreciate the help, though it may have just caused my wife some bitterness, I feel much better now hearing it from y'all!

I don't disagree, but when you represent an item is 4 weeks out, and now 12 weeks have passed, one should expect a quick note suggesting that it will take more time. I would love to support his business, so a quick note will keep me enagaged and waiting, and not eager to move-on to a non-grendel supporter.
