First Grendel

My first Grendel, a custom build:









Barrel: Alexander Arms 24"
Gas Block: Rainier Arms extended gas block (pinned on)
Muzzle brake: Ross Schuler custom made
Handguard: Daniel Defense MFR 12.0 (cerakoted by Gulf Coast Shooting) with Mount 'N Slot sling swivel socket
Trigger: Giessele Hi-Speed National Match
Buttstock: CavArms C1 with a couple Mount 'N Slot sling swivel sockets I installed.

Upper was build by Rainier. I built the lower.

SS 10X on ADM mount is temporary until I decide what optic to use.

Very nice. I'm a little surprised that you would leave any to the gas tube exposed. A friend and I are about to start builds and we're having trouble finding barrels. Where did you get yours?

Nice Stick! How's she shoot? Did you make the lower from an 80? or scratch?

If you had wanted to get a longer hand-guard would the gas block fit inside it? I've been looking at the rainier arms extended block wondering if it would fit inside a hand-guard.

Very nice. I'm a little surprised that you would leave any to the gas tube exposed. A friend and I are about to start builds and we're having trouble finding barrels. Where did you get yours?

I got my barrel direct from AA. I've had the parts sitting around for almost 3 years, finally got the last components in... the ban panic dried everything up.

The delay was fortuitous, because the build specs changed; I had a plain FF tube already bought for this. The the MFR came out, a much better piece of kit.

Any regular handguard (7", 9", 12") will leave about .25" of the gas tube exposed if paired on a matching Carbine, Midlength or Rifle gas system. Not optimal, but not unusable either. If DD makes an extended 14" MFR, I will switch it out.

I haven't shot it yet! I've only got a few boxes of ammo. I want to stockpile more before I start expending it. I'm waiting for more Wolf 120 MPT, where is it.

The lower is a "legal" OLL. I got a few as soon as they became available, and kept them stored until I got the idea to do some Grendels. I'm stuck with 10 round mags and bullet buttons with them, so a Precision build seemed like a good match.

The Rainier gas block is minimalist and looks like it would fit under the handguard with no problem. They are all on back-order now though. I need another for my 16" build (a twin to the 24"), but ETA on the gas blocks is unknown. I got the Rainier because A) they will pin them on the barrel for you; and B) the AA barrels were only bead-blasted about 3/4 up the gas block, so I needed the unblasted area covered.

Good luck finding your barrels!! I think the Grendel is an awesome cartridge.
