We shall not ever give in=-=we will vote smarter next time, and start up the impeachment proccess now.

I don't doubt for a second that they would be willing to "compromise" and settle for a "universal background check". What they effectively mean is a "universal firearms registry". They are just calling it a background check instead. The registration scheme will be buried in the language, or they'll issue themselves authority to create it later during their "implementation phase". A universal check system only works if they have registration with it. Otherwise how can they enforce it?
I love how they always speak of compromise.:confused: They offer three infringements of our rights, and are willing to "compromise" by only taking one of them now. Then next time around they'll want three more and settle for another one. The process is designed to continue until they have it all.
It's kind of like a pack of wolves "compromising" by only eating one of your sheep tonight. They'll be back to "compromise" for another one tomorrow night.
When they seek to take what is not theirs to have, it is not a compromise. It is outright theft. Never to be regained within their system. They seek to garner even more of the power they've become drunken on, and they will strangle us as quickly or slowly as we allow them.
My idea of compromise would be getting back all of our rights, and agreeing to show a tiny bit of leniency during their future prosecution-- in exchange for them providing assistance in righting their wrongs now. I know it is more than a wolf deserves, but hey, I could be a tiny bit forgiving if they complied. I'm a swell guy like that!LOL

Well, we will know where our rifles will be soon enuff, Vari. No leniancy on my end-best I can do for today.
I give up no rights-& no, I won't register anything. It's already in the registry- they can have a nice day -w/out me involved in it. Hop in America, Stand aside from the gov.
Your rifle is your right to keep & bear=if needed. Pistol also.

There used to be a bounty on wolves, and they pretty much disappeared here in the US because of it. I reckon we need to revisit wolf removal techniques again. Their resurgence demands it. I'm hoping this can all be peacefully (and correctly) resolved somehow, but if it isn't I don't doubt that the old fashioned ways of fixing things will return.

My son still lives up in Minnesota but I am not sure for how long. After all this talk about far left gun grabbing new laws, he is looking for a wooded lot in Wisconsin to build a new house on. He will take Governor Scott Walker any day over Governor Dayton in Minnesota and Al Franken and all the other far left leaning liberals in MN. I moved from MN 8 years ago and I thought that the government was bad then, but it is getting much worse now.
Holing-up on your own requires a lot of people to maintain security. You have to factor in how many bodies it takes on each portion of a perimeter, with shift rotations. The further out you project a security perimeter, the more bodies you need. The more bodies you need, the more logistics you need. Even if you're smart and set-up a hexagonal perimeter, how far will you push out? A 300yd perimeter from your dwelling in a triangular shape will have each leg at no less than 300yds. If you build a bunker-trench complex that can handle all the dead space for each 300yd leg of the 6 sides of your perimeter, you will need 3 Infantry Companies + Engineers, and mortar pits, along with anti-tank weapons and air defense assets.
We're looking at 15 fighting positions per leg of the perimeter, occupied by no less than 2 soldiers per, for 30 soldiers per line, and you only have the option of running no less than 50% security at that point if all sectors are to be watched. Multiply that times 6 for just your perimeter, and you have 180 troops on the line in the defense. That doesn't account for administrative and support personnel at the built-up position (I'm assuming a cabin?) Take the extreme case that everyone is talking about with drones and Hellfires, and they can just fly in at night, drop a Hellfire on the cabin, and decide whether they want to run a story the next day about how some drug-growing extremists had an accidental explosion in their meth lab.
This is why the "holing-up" option doesn't provide a viable long-term solution for avoiding a tyrannical takeover, unless you rely entirely on stealth and long-term storage of logistics for a very small group. With modern satellite and aerial surveillance, ground-penetrating radar, and individual electronic tracking, it becomes less and less of a realistic option. You end up like Vicky Weaver and her son, with bullets in your head from an FBI HRT member who was told you are drug-running, weapons-trafficking extremists. The trigger-pullers don't have to know the truth, only what they are given in their missions order, and it will never be good.
We have to stay in our neighborhoods, be exemplary neighbors, and stick this out together. You need gardens, with distribution of crop types, water treatment back-up, water source plans, and a neighborhood watch. We're going to be forced into this model anyway when the unemployment goes from the current rate of 26%, to 35% and 50%+.
Golly, I thought unemployment was only 9%, must be a conspiracy (joking).
I have to agree, LRRPF52. Who can assemble and maintain all the skill sets necessary for life, much less a happy life, with only a family-sized group? Better to live in a convivial community, preferably out of hot spots and fallout drift patterns.
Obviously you have thought about this to much. I don't know where the head for the mountains and build fortified position came from. All I can say is wow.

=L52 has been a busy guy, lately. He likes to help us all. Chill out. As a side note- 2 yrs. ago-I insisted that he blab more on this 6.5 Grr forum, & leave a diff. one behind, kinda.. He has much knowledge--Albeit an attitude towards the world in general. I trust him, yet I have my own hopes for the world. He has been thru, & seen a many things most humans could not endure. He has a great knowledge of bullets & BC'S!- We talk of bullets all the time,, hell- he has some of my GMX units!
I know you are a soldier-let's have a brew together. We can talk of holing up options for us here in MN==cool?
When sneaky said "Al Franken is a good guy.", I thought he triggered the code word for "hole up in a cabin". Whoops! We know that nobody would ever make a comment in all seriousness about Al Franken like that.
Go ahead and postpone digging the bunker trench complex with claymores, interlocking fields of fire, with primary and fall-back positions. My bad!

After hearing osama obama's speak tonite-he seemed to fade from the grand plan of last month,,, time will tell what he and the gang are up to next.
Meanwhile, my build continues onward as planned. A few pallets of brass, & bullets await delivery. Primers are the sad note on stocking up for the next 4 yrs.,....
Naw man I'm cool I am just surprised how much thought you actually put into that subject. I was an MIA1 tanker we never worried about such things it was keep moving and coordinate for Fuel and Ammo. The crunchies took care of the other stuff. and in case you haven't notices I am also a professionalism smart ass with a major in sarcasm. Sorry didn't mean to step on others toes.

Sure thing sneaky, there are several shooting options close by. Stock up on ammo When I take the family to the range for a day it usually involves mulple calibers and the rounds number into the thousands!
