My 6.5 build

Howdy everyone-

I figured I'd share my build plan/progress w/ everybody.
Parts-
*dpms lower- I got this lower w/ a complete rifle. Have j.p. trigger unit, h-2 buffer, mil-spec buffer tube, mil-spec stock, winter trigger guard, over-sized mag release, already assembled.
*24" AA light barrel, threaded, thread protector, matched bolt, (waiting for delivery:confused
*flash hider-dunno if I'll put one on or not.
*j.p. adjustable gas block
*m-16 bcg- when I can find one:mad:
*hand guards- Nordic ff tube, possibly another if it tickles my fancy.
*dpms slick side upper receiver
*optics- vortex or counter sniper, w/ decent mounts

I have some of the items and have to purchase others. Talked to AA and they said they were doing a run on my specific barrel and it should be done soon. This was over a month ago. Dunno if it's really getting done or if that was to keep my order from being cancelled. I'll wait awhile longer, but if I get no word I'll cancel and just cough up the extra cash and go thru satern. They told me end of january-early february if I go thru them. Any ideas for this build are welcome. I will keep the progress of the build updated as I go.

I got an email 2day from Steve after waiting on a reply for a few weeks. He was very apolegetic on the response time and said my barrels in production, and if I don't get an email in a few weeks saying its on the way to contact him. Things are getting exciting now fellas!

I just waited and AA asures me it will be worth take your time stay with the plan.

That's why I haven't canceled on them. I've heard their barrels are excellent for the price they sell them. So did you mean you're waiting on one also? Steve A. and who I spoke w/ on the phone said they're doing 24's right now. Just not sure on delivery dates yet.

+sorry i'm so late responding these poeple are good just swamped don't get in a hurry focus on the final rifle not how fast you can get parts. And yes my wait will be over on Tuesday 5 months worth but i will have not settled for what ever i could get quickly.

same here. going on 4 1/2 months now waiting for my AA Shilen Entry. it's been painful, but i will not settle for less. it's gotta be AA and i will wait for it.

Well I ordered a jp low profile adj. gas block and the dpms slick sided upper. I've decided I'll just wait on AA. I'm also buying a used 6.8 barrel(200 or so rounds thru it) for another project, so I reckon I'll just tinker til I get my Grendel tube. Much more excited for the Grendel.

When did you order your barrel? I also ordered a 24" lite barrell, but on July 3rd. I was hoping it would be here before Thanksgiving (well, hunting season really) but its looking not likely now...

Allen- I've been for about 3-3 1/2 months. I just talked to AA yesterday and they are running 24"s now. They said mine is included, so yours should be as well.

Lord I hope so. I'm getting antsy Not to mention I would like time to get it running 100% reliable before hunting season. But I suppose it will be what it be.

Friends don't let friends buy Counter Sniper optics.Whatever you do, do not buy CS. They are basically the joke of the shooting community. There are threads on them on Sniper's Hide that will make you die laughing so hard, they must be visited once a year. Reading through those threads is probably better treatment than any anti-depressant on the market, seriously.

The thing that really bothers me about Counter Sniper Optics is that they are cheap pieces of Chinese feces, advertised as US Government Contract Overruns from Super Secret Special Ops units, with Berillium Zantitium Unobtainium lens coatings made from a DOD satellite program. It's shameless really.

Do they hold zero? Nope

Do they track? Nope

Do the knobs break off? Yes

Do they cost $600 and up? Yes! These are bonafide airsoft-grade optics that I wouldn't even put on a kid's pellet rifle or Ruger 10/22. They are priced to deceive you, just like their ads, that the product is even worth the glossy paper it's advertised on. If you really need one, take $600-$800 in cash, pile it on your driveway, Pour gas or other flammable liquids on the pile, step back to a safe distance, strike a match, and throw it on the pile of cash.

I'm a huge Vortex fan, both of their products and their customer service. If you can't swing their more expensive offerings, don't shy away from the original Vipers. They are a high quality optics and can be found very reasonable used. I currently have a 6.5-20x50 Mildot (waiting for my Creedmoor build) and a 2-7x32 on my son's AR. Very good scopes.

Well everyone, after months of waiting for my barrel and plenty of thinking time, I've decided to cancel w/ AA and ordered from bhw. Just trying to decide if I should stick w/ 24" or go. Decisions decisions...
