Have my Australian Permit to Aquire in for a nice little Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel and am keen to learn as much as I can.

Have always enjoyed smaller efficient cartridges and my current arsenal includes a Brno 22 LR, a Browning 22 Hornet, a Tikka M55 in 222, Tikka M55 in 6mmTCU and a single barrel 20 guage.

Very much the handloader and enjoy a day at the range testing loads.

Hoping the Grendel will become a useful tool for wild goats (yum) wild pigs and hopefully a fallow deer or two (similar in size to whitetails)

I’m lucky to have access to plenty of hunting grounds in the New England Tablelands in northern New South Wales and further west on the northern plains.

Welcome, with your list of cartridges reloading is a must for good ammo. The Grendel will work very well on Fallow and goats, you are right about them being about whitetail for cartridge selection.

I have actually taken whitetail with a number of cartridges including 22 Hornet, 222, and 7mmTCU the TCU being the best of the 3 IMO but never lost a deer to any of the 3. The Grendel is better than that list IMO

Thanks for the welcome - seriously considered the 7 when getting the TCU built. Had a 243 and had lots of left over 70 grain projects - so that tipped the balance. Sweet little rig and easily keeps 5 shots around the 3/4 inch - even when fire forming.

Love the Tikka LSA 55 (M55 in Australia) all wood, all metal, wonderfully smooth and accurate.

Hope the PTA will be approved quickly (can easily takes months) - I’m not patient when it comes to Govt red tape.

Welcome.

8208 works nicely for projies below 120gn. 120gn and above I use 2206H. 100Nosler BT and 120NBT would be good bullets for Fallow.
