How many Gredels are there?

I was just wondering how has the Grendel been doing as far as popularity. There are three ammo manufacturers now as far as I know. And AA makes rifles and a few more currently make barrles and uppers. It seems as if the hunter, those who need accuracy for target shooting and those who want a little more reach would drift toward the Grendel. Anybody have a ball park figure on Grendel population.

Just based upon ammo availability in my area, it isn't as popular as 6.8 or 300 BLK. Not as common for uppers, either. Most I talk to ask me if I meant 6.5 Creedmoor and not 6.5 Grendel. No idea on how many rifles/uppers are out there, and I doubt anyone could give more than a WAG.

Hopefully more ammo manufactures start producing the grendel.
And more manufacturers start making the rifle.
But, I kind of like the exoticness of it!
Plus it has bad ass ballistics!

Had mine for a year now and still have not saw another Grendel in my county. When people see it shoot there is a lot of interest generated. Starting to see uppers and brass at gunshows.

I know when I take mine out other club members like to talk with me about it, most have heard of it but had never seen one before. Makes it easy to claim spent brass!

The 6.5 Grendel is certainly picking up a following in my area, as well as the Beowulf!! All the local gun shops carry ammo for them and a new gun shop that just recently opened up is building custom Grendels. They have one right now for $4200.00 it comes with 82 lbs of Hornady 123gn factory Ammunition (2000 rounds I think).

Local gun shop had someone asking today about 6.5 Grendel and got a couple of other querys over the last couple of months. Definitely getting more poplular. Almost 2500 members on this site and I know on the Predator forum there is a lot of interest in the 6.5 Grendel/264 LBC. Considering there are a lot of members that have several rifles there is a good following. Even if 25% of all 6.5 G owners were members here that would be 10,000. I have a feeling there are more than that.

That would be useless for the total count. CSS, Sabre, JP, Precision Firearms, J&T, and Les Baer among others have also all built licensed Grendels, so the numbers from AA won't even touch the total.

CSS, Les Baer, Model 1, and many others have all built .264 knockoffs, too, so if you count those, the numbers get pretty crazy pretty fast.

WAG. However, methods may be applied to come up with a ball park figure There are about 2500 members on this forum. Has anyone anywhere ever run ito another pesron using a Grendel? Emperical data can be useful. Enough random sightiings of Grendels around the country would indicate a viable population.

Every Grendel owner I have run into is not a member of the forum. I figure there are at least 7-8 minimum Grendel owners for every member here, and I have met them locally, out-of-town, & overseas.

I ran a calculation on the old forum before it was maliciously attacked and vaporized, after members here couldn't believe how fast brass disappeared as soon as it was distributed. That was in 2010. We had exact figures on Lapua brass, and it was gone as soon as it hit Midway, Midsouth, etc. Many guys were fire-forming various 7.62x39 cases back then as their primary source of brass, and there were a lot of good threads on specific case capacities and the different pressure limitations they had compared with Lapua.

The last 2 matches I have been at had guys that own Grendels, and a guy was asking me about it when I mentioned that I had one at home, after his buddy mentioned planning to build one. (I was shooting .260 Rem.)

Real numbers would be interesting to see. I shoot mostly at a public range in Garland that on most days is packed. Thus far, I have not met anyone else shooting a Grendel but I sure do get a lot of questions about mine. You can almost see the gears working in peoples minds by the looks on their faces.

I hardly ever go to public ranges any more, so I can't give sample numbers from them. I can say between me and my friends/coworkers we have ten Grendels and number eleven will be in the works soon. I'm the only board member in this group.
