Gentlemen, Warriors, and Vile Unwashed Masses of the Grendel Horde: We're very pleased to announce that our barrels (starting with our latest batches of 6.5 Grendel 14.5" and 6mmARC 16" and 20") will now come factory dimpled with our industry-first Dog-Point Dimple System (DPDS) for easy and solid installation of set-screw gas blocks.

Our new Dog-Point Dimple System (DPDS) replaces the set screw opposite the gas port with an extended-tip set screw, often called a dog-point set screw. This kind of set screw ends in a sort of peg, which mates with our pre-drilled dimple hole. Simple. Solid. Sweet!

NOTE: Barrels already in stock before this innovation — such as the 65G-12 and 65G-16 — do NOT have the DPDS dimpling. The in-stock barrels that HAVE the DPDS are 65G-14.5, 6A-16, and 6A-20.

Does the dog-point set screw come with your barrels? Torque value?

No established torque value. As with regular set-screw gas blocks, I'd just snug it up without going crazy and stripping it, and use some thread locker if desired.

Dog-point set screws come with our set-screw gas blocks (we also sell a clamp-on gas block) and are available by request if you already have an existing gas block you want to use with our barrel. Our gas blocks take a 10-32x3/16 dog-point (and use a 10-32x1/8 regular set screw); most other gas blocks that use regular 10-32x3/16 set screws will require a 10-32x1/4 dog-point set screw.
