I know not a 6.5 Grendel question, but they are kinda cousins. ;-)
How does Hornadys currently made small rifle primer 7.62x39 and Lapuas large rifle primer 7.62x39 brass compare for primer pockets loosening, particularly at pressures close to 6.5 Grendel.
Will be in a custom rifle with custom 308 chamber neck & bore, with custom die made to fit rifle chamber, obviously shooting.308 dis bullets.
Mostly interested in which will tend to give more firings before primer pockets loosen.
I know Lapua is one of best, but they use SR primer for 6.5G case and LR primer for their 7.62x39 cases. Guessing maybe because most 7.62x39 will be loaded around 45,000 psi vs 6.5G at 52,000 psi?
Curious haw the trade off is with Lapuas quality brass vs Hornady SR pocket, which would have stronger case head/web & keep tighter primer pockets for more reloading, especially at 6.5G pressures?
Not concerned about case prep, will FL size, uniform primer pockets & deburr flash holes, trim to uniform length, chamfer mouth for either and anneal cases.
The cost is pretty close for either, so thats not a driving factor.

.220 Russian cases and nicking them up to .308. Would get the quality of a Lapua case and SR primer.
