Loading Nosler 129 gr Accubond bullets

just loaded 25 129 gr Nosler Accubond bullets for my 6.5 Grendel - - New brass - trimmed and champhered. Powder charge is 25.5 gr IMR4895. Nosler info says that is a 98% load by volumn . Seated with Forster Ultra Micro seating die. Issue is when seated most of the bullets have an indentation circular about at ogive. Does not feel like am over stuffed, but sure seems like it. . Any thoughts comments.. Jim

Seating stem internally is more optimized for a vld style bullet, so it's bearing surface is smaller on the bullet when seating exerting the same amount of force into a smaller surface contact area thus causing a depression. I saw this on .223 with a hornady die, and not a full case.

I like Forster dies, have a bunch of them but, this is a well documented issue! Hornady offers more seating stems to help alleviate this problem, however, their excruciatingly tall micrometers can cause problems on a Co-Ax with long action cartridges. If you plan on using a lot of these bullets, you can modify the factory seating stem with a “lapping” compound for better fitment or choosing another powder with less volume!

My foster die does the same to the 129 ablr's. It's the stem in the die and also because the bullet is so soft at the tip area.

at 100 yards the bullets hold about a 2" group - my scope is just a 1 x 4 so things look small at 100 to start with. i am sure the rifle shoots better than I do as a 75 year young shooter.. J

Similar to my own experience. While they appear to be very good terminal performance bullets; I haven't gotten the worlds best accuracy with them, with 2 MOA about all I was able to get. I finally gave up and switched them over to 6.5 CM, where my MDRx doesn't shoot any better then that anyway. Where they gave me even worse accuracy performance. If the whole point of these performance bullets is good expansion at distance, that implies it needs to actually hit at distance. To me, the terminal performance isn't really relevant until farther than 300 yards, in comparison to other options anyway. And once you start getting out there, 2 MOA (or more) starts to add up.

Just my own take. Personally, I'm not really that big of a fan of this bullet and doubt I'll buy any more. Others like it much better, so maybe they have been able to tune some better performance than I did.

If you would be willing to pay the cost of bullets plus the PITA of doing so; I would happily. But alas, you aren't going to be able to afford the PITA part They are all in 6.5CM ammo now, and I'll just blast it away 3-gun or something at this stage. Though maybe my AR10 likes them better, so I'll do a final test there.

I had similar hopes as Lze for these costly pills but haven't yet found any wow in them either, whether CM or grr. So they sit on my shelf. Maybe one day I will get back to them, but most likely in CM. My CM's right now are doing tgk's and eldx's, and some barnes, all inside of 1.0"/100, most times <0.75... so I'm staying with what is working for now. Even have the old sierra 140 gk's shooting 0.578-ish from my 24".
