Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum, but I've been reading for awhile about everything the 6.5 has to offer and I've been very impressed. I'm pretty dead set on buying a 6.5 rifle in the next week or two. I'm looking at the Alexander Arms 19.5" AWS. In searching for a decent, but lower priced, optic to go on this. I've been looking at the Millett 4-16x50 Illuminated Mil-Dot scope and read a lot of great things about it along with all the fantastic reviews. I wanted to know if anyone here would foresee any issues with putting this on the AWS?
I mainly want this to for target shooting out to about 600-800 meters, but I also wouldn't mind pushing the distance limits of this weapon system, which I believe should be about 900-1000 meters.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated here. Thank you.

My shooting buddy runs one on his GDMR and has for the past 3 years without any issues.
It's a decent optic for the price, but I would lean towards the Vortex line, which weren't available back then.

I can't say enough good things about the Vortex line of optics. I bought a Viper 6.5-20x44 MilDot back before the PST's were available, and have since purchased a 2.5-10x44 Mil/Mil, in addition to their awesome 8x28 R/T mini binos, SPARC Mini Red Dot, Strike Fire RDS, and Nomad 20-60x60 Spotting Scope.
The 6.5-20x44 has gone through some pretty extreme weather conditions, and held zero with exact & repeatable tracking. I used it for some load development on my 16" Grendel, and it's now on a 5.56 SPR and has been shot in -20 C/-4 F temps with high humidity, as well as 100 F in high humidity over the past year. That SPR/Scope combo has been able to hold .5 MOA-.75 MOA all along.
I think the 2.5-10x44 Viper PST is an ideal scope for most Grendel applications, since it is small, lightweight, has great knobs, reticle options, Mil/Mil or MOA/MOA clicks to match the reticle, illumination, zero-stop, excellent glass, and is a tough scope. I have it on my .260 Rem AR10 right now. I wrote a bit about it before the site was attacked, anticipating the release of the Viper PST's, and they have not disappointed.
I have a GRSC 1-4x on the Grendel, but I will put another 2.5-10x44 Viper PST on the Grendel in the future. You simply can't go wrong with the Viper PST's and I got that scope for under $600 from Scott at Liberty Optics, shipped.

For under $200, I would recommend the bushnell 3200 straight 10 power. It is simple, inexpensive, durable, and has good enough glass for 1000 yds.
Vortex is a great balance between quality, support, and price. I've owned one of their Viper scopes and was very satisfied.
I recently bought a 3-15x50mm Weaver tactical scope that is absolutely excellent. The glass is superb, it's first focal plane, MIL/MIL, the turrets lock, it tracks well, and the etched modified mildot is quite usable.
This is another option for a high quality scope in the sub-$1000 price range.
