Problems sighting in yesterday!!!

It 0500 Thursday and I’m on my way to the club to shoot.

I went up yesterday to get my Thermion sighted in with a brand new bullet, 129ABLR

Got to the club a 1345, stepped out of the truck, though I was going to pass out from the heat.

Hot as blue blazes, 100 degrees on the firing line………It is just hot as he** in Georgia in June, it was not like that before Joe Biden was elected president……..

I taped two HotHand hand warmers to two pieces of white poster board and stapled one on the 50 yard berm the other on the 100 yard berm.

Came back to the line mounted my thermion to my rifle, took the rig to the firing line, fired the scope up,
an settled in behind the rifle for a real big time.

Now get this…..when I looked in my scope the entire target butt lit up like the sun, at 50 and 100 yards.
My hand warmers were invisible……I tried different color palettes, nothing was giving me good target definition….

Well it’s time for me to load up and leave….as soon as I decide what gender I going to shoot as today, heck I might even shoot as a different species today…

Today I’m shooting as an Adamasgender Tardigrade.

The Georgia Gun Club, nice place. Not cheap, but comfy when the weather is inhospitable.

Senor(a)(ita) Tardigrade, welcome to the issue of thermal crossover whereby everything is approximately the same temperature. A hothands will not work well against the backstop that has been heated in the sunshine. On really hot days, what you need is a cold target (like a can of pop) that you can dangle from a target frame, ice cube you can rest on a cardboard ledge you tape to the target, etc.

I have steel silhouettes at my place. I just pick a portion of the head and see how well the bullet impacts. However, in the late afternoon, the steel target is often close to the same temp as the backstop, so I have to be careful with that.

I have tried to shoot the 100 yard range twice, just to crono loads and have had to leave both times scared for my life.

Loaded guns pointed at me twice……Very weak range officers and management team.
