Hey, Y'All! Actually, the Grendel will be my 3rd build so, yes, I am an addict. Too, I am a handloader. I have been in love with building and tweeking my own ammo ever since my Dad took me into his sanctum sanctorum and showed me how, on his Herters press. I still have that press and eight, like-new, die sets, although today they are more of a conversation piece. Once the build is finished, the rest of the fun will begin.

Any comments on PPU brass?

Which PSA upper did you get? I got a 20" one about a month ago, their website is sort of confusing with both of their 20" versions having identical descriptions.

The original PPU 6.5 Grendel brass used large rifle primers and quality varied from lot to lot. Some lots of PPU brass could withstand a few moderate charge reloads. Other lots were only good for one or two reloads before primer pockets were to loose. I found S&B large rifle primers fit more snug in PPU brass.

The newer PPU brass with small rifle primer get pretty good reviews and seems more consistent from lot to lot. I haven’t used any of the new PPU SRP brass but still have a couple hundred I’m using of the LRP brass. I tend to use some of my old PPU or fire formed x39 brass where I might not be able to recover my brass.

Hey, VASCAR, thanks for mentioning the primer pockets. Turns out, they are small. Ever use CCI #41 (NATO) primers for your AR reloads?

Yes I’ve used mostly CCI 450 and CCI 41 for my AR-15’s. The CCI450/41 have thicker cups which resist slam fires with the AR-15 floating firing pin.
