Watch out for "Security Shield".
I just got my laptop back from my tech guy because my computer got a virus. Luckily, I didn't follow the on screen instruction or my computer would have be toast.
It first showed up in my start-up programs then a pop-up window appeared with a warning that my computer is under attack and is unprotected. It is sneaky, it looks similar to the Window Security Essentials I have running but it's ACTUALLY THE VIRUS. If you follow the bug's instructions it takes you to a window were you can buy protection, that's what made me suspicious. I called my tech guy(my nephew) and he figured it out.
Again watch out for "SECURITY SHIELD"
Happened to me Tuesday, and that computer is in-fact toast. Starts up with a blue screen, can't even log-in using safe mode. Mine showed up as "Security Essentials" and asked if I wanted to fix it. Then said I had to restart. Computer is done. I will find who is responsible, and they will pay. They will not taste death, but will pray for it every moment for the rest of their life. I'm sick of this.

I tracked who hacked my facebook account. They were in the Chicago area. I closed facebook after that and will not go back. That was last year. Wish the best for them.
I wish I had the ability to send a nasty critter back to these spammers! Something like the Grendel logo popping up on their screen, a three round burst, and their system crashes, lol.

Ya, that's what's sneaky about it, it pops up and warns you there's a virus and it's the virus.
Google Superantispyware, it is a free download and will fix the problem. I have fixed several computers with this virus.
PS: stay off the PORN sites!!!!
It happened to both my wife's and my primary laptop within the past two weeks, so I think it's just a phase for the industry to bilk us for more computer money. If I had a JDAM for every source IP address, there would really be shock and awe.

I love the GAU-8. When the A-10 was still in testing at Edwards before we left for Germany, my dad brought me home a full 30mm cartridge for it. I don't know if it was a dummy round or what, but I got it stuck in my Millenium Falcon through the top gun turret...used it as a handle to fly the Falcon with. I was ticked when my dad said he needed to return it to the A-10 Combined Test Force. They used to practice battle damage repairs on the A-10 by taking sledge hammers to it and going ballistic on it like a pack of banshees, then repair it.
A-10 = all kinds of win. Yes, we should have A-10's on standby with grids to virus spreaders uploaded to their target prioritization scheme. I'd hate to be in the neighborhood though...
I've called in A-10's and watched in amazement as they made metal-to-metal contact with the GAU-8 on tanks in Yakima. One burst is like a lifetime of July 4th's wrappped into one climactic barrage of doom.

FWIW, I thought mine was toast as well, got it back on in safe mode, and got rid of the stinking thing with Malwarebytes anti-malware software. It was a HUGE PITA, and if you ever find out who to send a Nuke to over it, kindly advertise, because I have a score to settle as well.

The Warthog is my favorite all time jet, I think! For an Air Force brat who has been in a fair number of glory birds or even flown some of the simulators, it is just so ugly! But.....just WOW! Performance out of all context!

We got to play with them at Shaw and up at Cold Lake in Alberta. They rule!
I was in "Hitler Youth Corps" (Civil Air Patrol) when I was a kid and I wanted to be a hog driver, but I figured out I wasn't disciplined/mature enough then to actually buckle down for more school past high school at that age. I had to go enlisted instead. Now that I'm buckled down-- I'm too old!LOL

couple of good utils to help you guys out with Malware. Do a google search for "combofix download". You want the link that directs you to bleepingcomputer.com. Combofix is fast and thorough. Make sure to disable any AV that is currently running and also disable system restore before the scan.
For blue screens, google search "blue screen view". This is a simple exe file that parses out the information in the mini-dump file that is created when a pc blue screens. It will tell you exactly what file and the location of said file that caused the blue screen.
