Interesting! CCI 450 had less velocity than the CCI 400, didn't see that coming, also the 400 had better SD. The article would have more impact if there were other powders tested as well as at other powder charge weights.

This study was identical loads with different primers to examine primer variance. Using different powders/powder charges would have ruined the focus.

It would have sharpened the focus of the study had they repeated the test with a few different powders. Then we would know trends instead of if it was just a fluke that the different primers gave those results with that particular powder.

At this point we know nothing except about the results of the different primers with a single powder and charge weight.

More a factor of barrel stress relief and barrel heat, than primers.

I found the article interesting, because it matched the results of a similar test I conducted a few years back. I didn't have a high dollar rifle, (700 SPS ) and I am not the best shooter either, but I didn't see much reason to swap primers around at the time.

Conclusion, worry more about shooting technique than primer brands.
