New to the forum and first post part 1

Been hanging out over on Snipershide and found the link over here in another post. Figured it might be a good idea to join the forum as I know there is going to be a wealth of information in here.

With me beeing a rookie over here and my first post, I think it is only appropriate that my first Grendel build gets shown off a bit.

The lower is a Stiller Precision. It is dressed with skelatized Timney 3 lb trigger, KNS pins (not in pic) and a Phase5 Tactical bolt catch release (in the pic) but had to be removed due to it not working with the upper.



I used a Magpul PRS for the stock. Nothing special there.



Then put the two together.



The upper is from AA and is the GSR version with a 24" barrel and AA muzzle break.

For viewing, a NF NXS 5.5x22x56 was placed atop the AA upper and held in place with a JP scope mount.



The end result turned out pretty nice IMO.

Got everything put together and headed out to the range. It took four rounds to get the scope zeroed. Started the breakin with 123gr Hornady's. This was the next five rounds down the tube after the initial four for zeroing.



The next pics are of 100gr Berger's and 123gr Lapua Scenar's both from AA. Trying to see what the barrel may like better, I don't think I can make that decision at this time. A little more break in to get the barrel settled and a trigger change to come in the near future as I am not real happy with the feal of the Timney.

Thus far, I am very pleased with the gun and working with AA has been a complete pleasure. Few more months down the road and there will more than likely be another Grendel build in the works to play with but as a bolt gun.

Wasnt working on post count. Originally made the post but when I tried to submitt, it told me no more than 4 pics on a post. From there I just made the other follow ups without even thinking about posting replies to my original post. Brain froze there for a minute and then realized as an after though of what I had done.

That's a really nice stick and really well thought out build with quality products. Now for the big question ..... how much all that set ya back??

65man, the color is a Duracoat product in Tactical Dark Earth. All masking and disassembly/assembly of components was done by myself but the Duracoat was sprayed by Precision Matters locally to me here in Texas.

Mutt, the price tag is not pretty for sure but you get what you pay for. Without looking at individual receipts, I would say close to $5000 +/- a few bills. If I throw in all of the extras like Pelican case, extra mags, bore guides and all things specific to this one gun, that number will push $5500....... It all adds up and is part of the process.

It is a little steep but I have absolutely no problem spending the money on top quality components. I know that the gun will perform and last as it should. Looking back, all of my other builds are of the same. None of them are "cheap" so to speak.....
