A percentage of the population is going to be crazy, the larger the population the more crazies. Populations are going up so random murders are going to go up. IMO

Blaming this on a crazy leftist plan is as bad as the left blaming it on the gun. It's the dudes fault who did the shooting.

It seems you've jumped to an incorrect conclusion. Wink :p

 I said nothing about anyone's belief in God.

That depends. If such belief is an integral part of the discussion ("God given" rights, for example), it's kinda difficult to ignore.

I would opine that, if you really want to avoid arguments about God, don't bring it into the discussion. Smile

And I'm still curious to know what your "2Amendmt monitoring patrol" is, and what it's supposed to do.

I am sorry to see Stan's posts go. While Stan and I may not always agree, I appreciate his candor.

Stan, you're wrong by the way. You have immense weight to throw into threads. Your learned wisdom is welcome anytime. How you choose to use it or throw it is entirely your prerogative.

Stan seems to rub too many folks the wrong way. He's right here, technically. The majority of my post is a rant. And individually they have nothing to do with the second amendment in and of themselves. However, I believe each of these issues are a perfect illustration about how we are being stripped of our rights; how we have been stripped already of our rights. So, to bring light to the fact that removing our second amendment freedoms are being eroded by a mindset that believes that the ultimate goal is a society in which no one is free to make choices for themselves any more.

I've had enough of the losing. Keep your filthy fingers off my guns. So: "No. You've taken enough from us already, here are some examples." is the entire point.

Stan do you really believe the mindset of the folks that wish to disarm us is not well illustrated in the litany of ways our lives are being forcibly controlled, especially by some of the few listed here? You're right that the list is full of things that have nothing to do with arms. They are each and every one perfect examples of rights and beliefs that have been forbidden or ostricised to the fringe the way gun ownership is being treated. They give shining example to what happens when society cows to the influences that seem to insist that they "know best for everyone, so just make it easier and go along".

The entire point is that while the current target is our right to keep and bear arms, other targeted rights and beliefs have already been taken. And shining the light on how poorly that has worked out for us is absolutely related. Directly. Plainly.

Um, no. I'm old enough to remember how my town, nation use to be when it was run by sane adults. Today, Seattle, Portland, most of the large cities in the nation have turned into an episode of the Twilight zone. In any experiment, there is a cause and effect. The underline cause or common denominator is radical leftist. I'm experiencing it in my own town today. Why were we able to carry firearms to grade school and high school and experienced zero shootings when I was younger, yet it is not even an option today?? The answer now seems to be the destruction of the 2ndA, since society has changed. What caused the change??? Radical leftist never fix the problem they create, but virtue signal and consolidate more power while depleting our freedoms. Has this solution ever solved the problem in the first place?? If society and people have changed, who is responsible for the change?? These are all 2ndA, 1stA, as well as all our Bill of Rights issues. The US has many examples of cities with a highly armed population and a good track record where its population never abused their firearm freedoms. We also have many examples of cities with very restricted firearm ownership where firearm abuse is rampant. If people care to actually find a solution and the root cause of firearm abuse, then all factors need to be examined. Yes, "a percentage of the population is crazy" but why is the percentage much higher in some cities, nations, etc, compared to others of equal population numbers????

Keef. You and I are 100% here. There's no shooting without a trigger puller.

My point is that society's crazies are being influenced, encouraged, and allowed to remain active because of the mindset of the left. The left doesn't make crazy, it supports and encourages it.

Totally understood, I'm certainly ok with that. Just saying let's be fair all around. 'Nuff said, and thanks for moderating.

Stan, I don't have enough details worked out yet to expound, I'm still thinking it through.

Great essay KSWT. I was thinking about pretty much all that you've said over the last few days and came to the conclusion that in AMERICA we have far more idiotic, corrupt politicians than mass shooters. How come we can't ban them? I guess because there are far more idiots voting than mass shooters?
Medical malpractice, abortion etc. kills more people each year than guns.

Az, your post doesn't bother me in the least. I'd put it in the same category as "Red Flag Laws". These are just the next steps for the reactionary feelings-enhanced leftist will use to further chip away at our freedom.

The logic is that because there are crazy people, we must ban things crazy people might use to commit acts of violence. By that logic, we should ban oxygen. To this point, I reiterate: No, you've taken enough from us already.

The sole reason people are getting shot up is because the left has conditioned two generations of us to believe that we should trust someone else to respond to our beck and call and keep us safe. We shouldn't be expected or in most cases even allowed to defend ourselves without the prospect of prosecution stemming from being violent ourselves. After all, two wrongs don't make a right; Right?

Ugh. I'm just tired of being told to sit down and shut up. "Not here." "Now's not the time." "Just stop, no one wants to talk politics!" Ugh. NO! You've taken enough from me already! I WILL speak my mind, and you shouldn't be so weak as to not be able to listen to the opinions of others. Grow up, and deal with the hard part of life: Hard decisions MUST be made, and opinions are everywhere. Man has fought many wars over these kinds of decisions, and thankfully here in America we fight in the realm of ideas and reason. Or at least we used to. Now, there's not enough real adults left to discuss things without feelings polluting the discussion to the point of hysteria...

Great essay OP. Sums the situation up nicely.

It burns me to see America go down this path. Im a first gen Haitian immigrant and to have grown up in the time that we have begun to lose so many freedoms and so quickly...feels bad man.

Anyways it's clear these sellout politicians will never stop. The only question is how do we win this fight? This country is morphing into the USSA before our very eyes. Me thinks a divorce of the worst sort is over yonder.
