Grendel Help

I'm looking to get a new ar grendel for deer hunting in Alabama. On our property the longest shot is 300 yards. I have read about the larue ultimate upper kits as well as the options palmetto state offers. I would like a light rifle I can run with a suppressor. What do you guys think?

For the price the larue kit is hard to beat. Ive seen some pretty good results from the psa guns as well though.

I would build my own. And If you already have the can to use, I would go with a 16 inch are shorter barrel.

Loaded it up with a good bonded or copper loaded ammo, sight in and start killing.

It's just my personal preference but I like to spend as much as I can afford and still come in on my set budget for the complete rifle.

You want light weight and good accuracy I would go with the 16 inch AA light weight barrel and a group buy bolt or a group buy 16 inch or shorter barrel matched to a group buy bolt.

Pick all the other stuff handguard, pistol grip, stock, scope mount/scope on what best fits your budget and makes the build come in at your weight range.

AA barrels are very good but 9/16x24 thread pitch might not be compatible with all suppressors. PSA uses 5/8x24 thread pitch on it’s 6.5 Grendel barrels. If using a suppressor with an 18” barrel you might consider an intermediate lenght or rifle length gas system. If using a suppressor I suggest an adjustable gas block or adjustable gas carrier.

I am very pleased with my AA 16" lite barrel so far. Gassed perfectly throwing Hornady Black and Wolf shells in a neat pile at 4 o'clock. I used a Precision Armament 9/16 to 5/8 thread adapter to mount my VG65 Epsilon muzzle device which I highly recommend.

Welcome to the forums, good to see another Alabamian here. You'll get lots of positive comments about Larue. I'm primarily carrying a 12" Grendel and would have no issues shooting out to 300. A shorter barrel may be something to think about if you're adding a suppressor and wanting to keep length and weight down.

Thanks for the responses. I like the idea of the larue kit for the ease of one stop shopping, but wasn't crazy about the 18" barrel. The 12" from psa is the other option I was looking at.
