Gas length help please

Wilson Combat had a sale on a 16" barrel with carbine gas.

Somehow or another I overlooked the fact that it had carbine gas. I really wanted mid-length gas and even purchased mid-length gas tube with it. After reviewing their website closer, they do not make a 16" mid-length gas barrel.

So now I am faced with the decision of do I send this back or keep it. Gas port is .062ish. I reload and do not want something that will give me pressure problems down the road.

Please share your experience with carbine gassed Grendels.

Seems like a adjustable gas block would fix any problem with it being carbine gas.

If you send it back the AA 16 inch is mid length gas.

Yeah, I should have added that to my first post. It'll get an adjustable gas block either way. I just don't want it pressuring up so quick that it prevents me from reaching higher velocity accuracy nodes with ejector swipes on my case heads.

I have 2 Wilson barrels, one 11.3" in 300BKO and one 16" in 7.62x40. Both barrels were way over gassed, which were corrected by an adj gas block. The excessive recoil was unacceptable from the factory IMO.

I have a 16” 6.5 Grendel carbine gas from Double Star/J&T which has a fixed A-2 front sight tower. I also built a 16” Faxon group buy barrel & bolt. Both are accurate but the midlength with fixed gas block is better. I’ve been tempted to put an adjustable bolt carrier on my DS/JT. I think you’ll be fine with the Wilson Combat carbine gas barrel with adjustable gas block.

There have been issues with 18” midlength gas 6.5 Grendel using suppressors. Not enough carbine gas 16” barrels out there where people run suppressors to get much feed back.
