currently i have a vortex viper 6x20x44. I was thinking about upgrading to the viper pst. my question is, is the glass any better on the pst then the regular viper? Or is there just more options as far as reticles and target knobs.
Im happy with the regular viper as for as options and adjustments. i have the bdc reticle and thats what i would order with the pst if i was to get one. Any suggestions?
You'll get more light with a 50mm objective. The glass in the 2.5-10x44 seems about the same as the regular Viper...decent, clear, but not Zeiss. Of course, Zeiss will cost you more, and they have a 19% warranty-related return rate according to my buddy's experience as a European optics dealer in Northern Europe, so figure that in.
You also lose usable elevation travel as you go higher in magnification with the Viper PST's, so keep that in mind. If you're going to be shooting out to 1000yds and further, it might be time to look at some serious cash output.

I haven't seen these side by side, but there are several reviews on the web that say the glass in the PST is better.
One review says that the glass in the 6-24X PST is noticeably better than the glass in the 4-16X PST.
I have seen the Razor and PST side by side and the glass in the PST compares favorably to the Razor which costs twice as much. Of course the Razor has a lot of other features like the 35mm tube, better zero stop setting, huge range of elevation, etc.
