New bolt grendel

Just wanted to share new addition to the family, well, extended family. Built this for my cousin based on a ptg blueprinted rem 700 SA with ptg bolt. Bartlein 5R, 21", 8" twist.
Reamed with saami reamer from Manson. Ptg bottom metal and .308 length box and follower. Timney trigger. Still needs cerakote. 5/8-24 threads with well blended thread protector. Waiting on vortex scope(man they're scarce right now).

Looks to be a shooter so far. Really liked the amax with 31.8 cfe seated to 2.26. I was shooting over new magnetospeed and it kept coming loose and I think causing vertical stringing. Without it all groups were clusters, not bug holes but all less than moa.

Also had a nice group with Berger 130 AR HYBRID over 30.3 cfe, just a starting load, it was 5 shots in one hole. Still trying to find that target. Didn't have chrono that day cause of a ups snafu, but went back next day with it. Still need to go back and do more organized testing. We were like little kids at Christmas!! Lol.

ETA: barrel is a #4 countour, stock is B&C tan & black web.

You know she is going to shoot good. I have the Magnetospeed Sport. It has never loosened up on me. Wonder what the issue is. The POI does change, obviously with a two pound weight hanging off the end of the barrel.

I was using the v3, and it was my first time using it. I was in a rush that day trying to beat a storm coming in, so it was probably user error!!

Also, I can attest that the Magnetospeed WILL COME LOOSE!

Remember, most barrels have a taper and that strengthens the need for tightness because any movement forward reduces the diameter inside the strap and it moves more with the next shot.

The key is to make sure the strap is tight and the tightening screw is cinched up. Then check for position and tightness every 5-10 shots.

One can get decent groups with it attached. The problem is that one doesn't know if the load will be as accurate with a bare barrel.

I agree on the grouping with/without. Seemed to like the amax better with, Berger without. We have a ways to go to find finished loads. I may try some ball2 and of course 8208. I'm also gonna look for some lever next time I'm out. Not to mention the different scenars, smk's, Bergers, noslers, and sst's. When my barrel gets here ill probably start out with the 108 scenars and go from there. The next one is for my son, and I plan to use the lighter target pills and probably either 100 nos BT, 100 ttsx, or some of johns cerb pills.

The one I build for my son will be on a blueprinted rem 700 and a BHW 22" pipe with saami chamber. I got the Manson blueprinting tools in and they work great so I'm gonna give it the full treatment.

If anyone is wondering, if I did it over I would go with a 3 countour barrel, 3b at the heaviest, on a hunting rig. I'm also going to modify a rem 700 box and follower to have around a 2.4" coal.

I know the feeling rabbid. I'm trying out the BHW pipe just as an alternative for folks who don't have the coin for a $400 Bart and then another $250 for chambering and fitting. I got the BHW pipe built to my contour specs and shipped for $230. I'll still need to thread, chamber and fit, because of the oversize threads of the blueprinted action. I think if they thread and chamber it would only be $50-70 more, but I didn't want to chase a chamber on the chance that it may not be exactly concentric to bore. This way if it's not, the finger points back at me.
