New Build - First Grendel

I am looking to complete my first grendel build. The gun will be used for hog, yotes and deer out here in California. I am also interested in non-competitive target shooting at various yardages and would like the gun to be able to hit steel at 1k yards every once in a while. I do not reload at this time, although I have been saving brass to eventually get into it.

Im operating on a limited budget, around $1000 to complete the remainder of the rifle. I currently have a stripped Anderson lower, cmmg parts kit, and a rra nm 2 stage should be delivered soon.

I am looking into the radical firearms 20 inch complete upper. At that price point of $540, I'm just not seeing anything that's beating it price rise. A match grade barrel and ready to shoot upper is really tempting. So far I have seen good reviews. Your guys thoughts on this?

I am also getting hung up on a stock for precision shooting and hunting with the ar platform. I do not hunt with my 5.56 so a carbine adjustable is perfectly fine. I am considering the magpul prs for this build, but at 250 and a limited budget i feel I could compromise a little on the stock to put more towards a quality optic. Your thoughts on acceptable stocks for the range and hunting?

Remaining odds and ends include grip, bipod, buffer assembly, etc...

I found a company tonight that builds and sells ar uppers that start at 599 he has a listing for a 6.5 dti, Im going to give him a call tommorw and get the low down on it, not sure its sammi specd barrel.

He uses only shiellen barrels and matched bolts, companys name is( dtechuppers).

The DTECH uppers are not available in the Grendel according to their website. The 22, 6mm, 25 and 6.5 DTI rounds are made from the 6.8 SPC brass which is necked down with shoulder changed 30 degrees.

I had read some on Predatormasters a few years ago about these and dug back a little to refresh memory about the rounds when it came up here this week.

DTACUPPERS do make some hotrod uppers in the WSSM family of cartridges which are cool except trying to find brass is a real pain these days for. Sure those with the WSSMs can make it from the WSM brass but that is a real pain.

D tech -is Mike Milli. A- 1 man operation in northwestern Mn. He's one of those genius type of guys that's always inventing new calibers, and all. His machine shop is top notch. He invited me up there 2 years ago to have lunch and a tour- it's all in 1 spot, 1 room !

If my Grrr Max idea gets me bored, I'm going uppaire to watch - help him build me a 6.5 Dtech one off. 18" thin bbl. upper with bolt. I'll take it from there.

You can buy a Grendel barrel for as little as $169, I bought a Alexander Arms 16" for $195 fluted stainless steel, a upper is $75, $15 gas block, $10 gas tube, and $40 free float tube a complete bolt for $109 equals $444

I bought a DTech upper in 6.5 Grendel. He list it as a 264 LBC. Mine is a select match barrel 20" 1:8. Put a Luth AR on it with a Ergo palm shelf grip, RRA 2 stage trigger, and topped it off with a Burris XTR II 3x15x50.

I got mine from AR15Performance in 20" for $190...but keep in mind that's not the SAAMI Grendel chamber. My upper was $49 (Anderson), and I paid a lot more for my bolt. Outside of that...our parts list looks pretty comparable .
