Heck, at this rate, we'll have to wait until December for the weather to cool off a bit. Do you have the 1/2 or 1" recoil pad on your Ace stock? I have the 1/2" on mine, and I'm thinking about trying the 1". What kind of groups did you get with the ammo you had? my grendel build - LRRPF52 - 08-22-2011 Nice rig. Did you install the POF roller cam pin and bolt carrier key on that DPMS TiN bolt carrier? Now some groups are needed... my grendel build - Whelenon - 08-22-2011 Nice looking rig. What's your impression of the carbon fiber forearm? Now go out and get in some serious trigger time, that's the fun part. my grendel build - usmc1371 - 08-23-2011 i have the .5 inch pad. the only groups that i have shot were at my 25yd range. they were one jagged hole but that doesnt mean much to me. its too damn hot for trigger time. my grendel build - usmc1371 - 08-23-2011 i like the carbon fiber hg. i had to make a mounting ring for sling studs and my bipod. my grendel build - usmc1371 - 08-23-2011 i did install the pof kit on a dpms TiN bolt carrier. my grendel build - LRRPF52 - 08-23-2011 I put one of those POF roller cams on a retro project slickside bolt carrier I have in the works. The Milspec attachment method calls for something like 60-80 inch pounds of torque on the machine screws, along with a sealing compound to form an aviation grade high-temp gasket between the key and the bolt carrier body. I degrease the surfaces with cleaner and acetone, check the fit and alignment with the gas tube, then apply JB Weld lightly to the threads and the contact surfaces between the key and the carrier. I'm wondering how it will last with the Chrome or TiN parts, since they don't have good surface adhesion. A lot of civilian companies use Red Loctite to form the seal, but I think the Milspec compound is more like black Loctite. I did my Grendel's BCG that way, and I recently did a bolt carrier in Grey Cerakote, where I ground the cerakote off the gas key area before mating the key to it. I guess we'll keep each other posted on how they hold up... my grendel build - glane5910 - 08-23-2011 Nice..I've got one of those brakes on one of my 6.5's and really like it so far. my grendel build - usmc1371 - 08-24-2011 i used red locktite and i cleaned all parts. torqued and staked the bolts. time will tell. i use chromed and tin coated parts at work all the time....... |
