HI, my name is Brett i am building a 6.5 g obviously and would like a barrel to be sub moa at 100 yards. I want to be shooting out to 800 yards at my longest. It will be a target gun and an occasional deer gun. i already have a mega billet upper and lower wanting a great barrel to match. please help.

i have looked at them but none that i would want in the discontinued section> I wish they would still make them. Shilen doesnt make the 6.5 g either.

If you're on a tight budget, consider the AR Stoner (E.R. Shaw) 24" from Midway. The finish inside the bore was the finest I've ever gotten in an AR15 barrel. It comes with an AA bolt and it shoots an Amax 123 over 29gr of 8208 sub-MOA as long as I'm shooting in sub-MOA form.

You don't get the bragging rights of a higher priced barrel, but I'd venture that it is more accurate than I am. Shoots both the 100 and 120gr Nosler Ballistic Tips equally well with the right load and COL. Those three are all that I've tried through mine. I do intend to try some 140s ahead of AR-Comp as soon as I can pick some up. Recent results with AR-Comp suggest it will perform quite robustly with a slightly heavier bullet. We'll see...

Well, Shilen does make Grendel barrels, and sells them exclusively through Alexander Arms, it's one of the available upgrades on several models.

If you want just a barrel, give Templar a call. Good reputation for cut barrels.

i have seen barrels chambered in 264 lbc ar can i use my dies for 6.5 g and the same 6.5 g brass. Is it safe to shoot with a barrel chambered in it with grendel ammo.

Yes to all. The ammo is the same. The slight difference is in the chamber dimensions.

If the next diameter is tighter than a true 6.5 Grendel chamber, you can run into problems with feeding, since some brass might be on the higher end of tolerance (but will still run in a Grendel chamber), then won't fit the chamber in a .264 LBC. If barrel-makers stray from the real chamber dimensions, don't expect reliability.

I quess the same could be said for the 6.5 BPC. I purchased my 6.5 BPC barrel from McGowen Barrel and have had no feeding issues. I did have some ejection problems due to the undersized gas port hole, but that was easily fixed. Read link: http://wildcatintel.com/blog/?m=201003

I think Satern is out of the Grendel barrels. Either that, or I just couldn't find any on their barrels on hand.

I think the cartridge designation simply changed for barrels that Midway had on hand. Like Satern barrels at Midway, I think the AR Stoner barrels were formerly Grendel, but now show as 264 LBC.
That's not to say that Satern will not offer 264 LBC barrels, but that's just my speculation on the existing inventory at Midway.
