So, i saw these on midway's website. 10rd Grendel Mags. They look different than anything i have seen. They are certainly priced different. What is the story on these???

Very interesting. There is no such thing as an aluminum Grendel mag to the best of my knowledge. Looking at them, they look like the ASC, so maybe that is what they are.

The pictured mag looks just like the original carbon steel mags marketed by AA a decade ago.

I had placed an order direct from AA a few weeks ago (for $14.99 - $17.99 per mag - much cheaper than from Midway). But then when they told me they were out of stock and they had no idea when they would be available and the same day Midway had 5 and 10 rd AR Stoner mags and a 25 RD AA mag available, I order them. They came in from Midway and the 5 rd was actually a 10 RD. When I called Midway, I was told that the MIDWAY shipping department affixed the wrong bar code sticker to some 10 rd mags and they would send me a new 5 Rd AR Stoner mag and said I could keep the incorrectly labelled 10 rd mag. (Great customer service!). the 5 rd mag is quite a bit heavier than the 10 rd one due to the weight of the plug (the body of the magazines are identical). Midway's sticker says "SS Black" on the sticker. I cannot tell a bit of difference between the AA 10 rd magazine which came with my AA Upper and the AR Stoner magazine except for the stamping on the bottom plate. (AR Stoner vs. the AA Logo and 6.5 Grendel).
The 26 rd AA magazine I got from Midway is stamped on the bottom with the same AA logo and 6.5 Grendel as well. The Midway affixed sticker says 26 Rnd Alum, but the plastic bag supplied by AA says "steel body". So, I believe the mistake in the description is all Midway's receiving or shipping department and what they might have sent to their webmaster.

Yep. Definitely looks identical to the original mags I have. Looks like a green (instead of blue) follower though.

AA advertises their mags on their site as being from ASC. They "fudge" the capacity issues a little by quoting the smallest capacity Mag as being a "4 round" (probably figuring that if you can get 5 rounds into it, you'll be happy, whereas if they advertise 5 round capacity and some people can't get 5 rounds in, they won't be happy. The "high capacity" mag is advertised as holding 24 to 26 rounds.
If you are asking about why the price difference between Midway's price and that sold directly from AA, since AA is buying their AA branded mags from ASC, they probably don't have enough margin to give Midway much of a discount and Midway has to recover their own shipping costs TO their warehouse PLUS make a reasonable mark-up. A lot of products offered by Midway (or Cheaper Than Dirt, Natchez, etc. ) can be purchased cheaper on Amazon AND with free shipping if you have a PRIME account. AND, some of these sites are often out of stock, when they can still be found on Amazon.

Sorry, I misinterpreted your question. It could be a lot of factors (incorrect price listed for the 25 rd mags) or if the pricing is in relation to supply and demand, there might be higher demand for the 5 and 10 rounders, so they charge more, "because they can". With more states adopting (or trying to) 10 round limits for magazines, buyers might be stocking up on them. I think that it does indicate that the actual cost of materials is not a significant factor in the pricing, otherwise the prices would be in relation to the amount of steel in the spring and magazine (same followers). However, AA had the 25 round mags the same as the 10, so in the end, who knows how Midway priced these?
